Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Mulls Acquisitions

Cement Company of Northern Nigeria plc (NGSE:CCNN) aims to raise NGN 45 billion for establishing a new production line of one million metric tonnes of clinker per annum with a coal grinding mill and accessories, according to the Chairman of the company, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu. Rabiu said, "As you are aware, CCNN generates 90% of its need for electric power because the supply from the national grid is insufficient. The dependence on fuel oil makes the company exposed to changes in the oil prices and disturbances in the supply situation. Thus, in order to address the situation, the board of the company resolved to implement the resolution of the 32nd annual general meeting authorising it to raise up to a maximum NGN 45 billion for the purpose of erecting a new production line of one million metric tonnes of clinker per annum together with a coal grinding mill and accessories"
