Corby Distilleries Limited engages in the manufacture and marketing of spirits and imported wines in Canada. The company’s portfolio of owned brands includes Wiser’s Canadian whisky, Lamb’s rum, Polar Ice vodka, and McGuinness liqueurs. Corby Distilleries Limited declared a quarterly dividend of CAD 0.17 per share payable on June 14, 2013 on the Voting Class A Common Shares and Non-voting Class B Common Shares of the company to shareholders of record as at the close of business on May 31, 2013. For the nine months, the company reported revenue was CAD 99.3 million compared to CAD 114.3 million for the same period a year ago. Earnings from operations were CAD 26.6 million compared to CAD 52.2 million for the same period a year ago. Earnings before income taxes was CAD 27.6 million compared to CAD 53.3 million for the same period a year ago. Net earnings were CAD 20.0 million or CAD 0.70 per basic and diluted share compared to CAD 41.2 million or CAD 1.45 per basic and diluted share for the same period a year ago. Net cash flow from operating activities was CAD 16.7 million compared to CAD 37.4 million for the same period a year ago. Additions to capital assets were CAD 0.6 million compared to CAD 0.6 million for the same period a year ago.
Corby Distilleries Limited and The Wine Group LLC announced that they have entered into an agreement providing Corby the exclusive rights to represent The Wine Group brands in Canada for the next five years, effective as of April 1, 2013 in Quebec and May 15, 2013 for all other provinces. Under the agreement, Corby will represent all The Wine Group brands, including Cupcake Vineyards, Big House Wine Co., Cocobon, Concannon Vineyard, Grayfox Vineyards and Mogen David Wine Co.
Corby Distilleries Limited announced the following move, effective as of July 1, 2013: Andy Alexander, currently Vice-President of Sales at Corby Distilleries, has decided to retire from this position on July 1, 2013 after 13 years with the company and will leave Corby August 1, 2013. Andy will be replaced by Stéphane Côté, the current Director of Sales for Ontario, on July 1, 2013. Stéphane has been with Corby and Pernod Ricard for nine years, and for 24 years in the alcohol beverage industry. Stéphane's extensive sales experience has covered seven provinces including Ontario, Québec, British Colombia and the Atlantics. Stéphane, a native of Québec, will continue to remain in the company's headquarters in Toronto and will work with Andy between now and the end of July to ensure a smooth transition.
