CropEnergies AG, Q1 2015 Earnings Call, Jul 08, 2014

CropEnergies AG Reports Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended May 31, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Full Year 2014-2015

CropEnergies AG reported earnings results for the first quarter ended May 31, 2014. The company increased revenues by 11% to EUR 208 million against previous year 2013 of EUR 186 million. The growth in revenues is the result of the increase in production and sales of bioethanol as well as of protein-rich food and animal feed products. The EBITDA, however, decreased in the as expected, due to bioethanol prices which were lower than in the previous year. At EUR 13.5 million against EUR 23.5 million previous year, it was 43% below the previous year's level. Accordingly, operating profit sank by EUR 11.1 million to EUR 4.5 million against EUR 15.6 million previous year. Compared to the fourth quarter of the previous financial year 2013/14, the company's performance has improved. While revenues remain the same, EBITDA doubled to EUR 13.5 million against fourth quarter 2013/14 of EUR 6.5 million and operating profit reached EUR 4.5 million against loss in fourth quarter 2013/14 of EUR 2.6 million. For the financial year 2014/15, the company confirms a targeted growth in revenues to EUR 850 million to EUR 900 million against EUR 781 million in previous year and an EBITDA of EUR 10 million to EUR 60 million against EUR 68 million previous year. Due to continuing uncertainties about the development of bioethanol prices, CropEnergies further expects an operating profit in the range of minus EUR 30 million to plus EUR 20 million.

CropEnergies AG Reports Earnings and Production Results for the Full Year Ended February 28, 2014; Provides Financial Guidance for the Fiscal 2015

CropEnergies AG reported earnings and production results for the full year ended February 28, 2014. For the period, the company has continued its growth course and has increased revenues by 13% to EUR 781 million compared to EUR 689 million in the previous year. This is mainly attributable to the acquisition of the British bioethanol producer Ensus in July 2013. After last year's particularly favorable spread between raw material and sales prices which enabled the company to achieve record results, EBITDA decreased in the financial year 2013-14 due to significantly lower bioethanol prices and higher raw material cost. Including the initial losses incurred at Ensus, which mirror the cost for the capacity expansion, EBITDA decreased by 43% to EUR 68 million compared to EUR 119 million a year ago. After interest, restructuring costs and taxes, net earnings for the year decreased - compared to previous year's record level - to EUR 12 million compared to EUR 57 million a year ago, corresponding to earnings per share of EUR 0.14 compared to EUR 0.67. For the period, the company increased bioethanol production by 9% to 884,000 cubic meters compared to 808,000 cubic meters in the pervious year. The production of food and animal feed products has also increased considerable. For the first time in the company's history, it has sold more than 1 million cubic meters of bioethanol. Sales increased by 20% to 1.012 million cubic meters of bioethanol compared to 840,000 cubic meters of bioethanol a year ago, this was in part due to the expansion of trading activities. The high volatility of bioethanol prices makes an outlook for the financial year 2014/15, which started on 1 March 2014, difficult. Due to the expansion of the production capacities, revenues are expected to further increase to EUR 850 million to EUR 900 million. The company expects an EBITDA of EUR 10 million to EUR 60 million. After depreciation, this corresponds with an operating profit in the range of minus 30 to plus 20 for the financial year 2014/15.
