CAE Inc. provides simulation and modeling technologies, and integrated training services primarily to the civil aviation industry and defense forces worldwide. The company’s Simulation Products/Civil segment designs, manufactures, and supplies civil flight simulation equipment, integrated training procedures trainers, flight training devices, and Web-based e-learning tools for regional commercial airlines, third-party training centers, and original equipment manufacturers, as well as provides various support services comprising emergency support, simulator updates and upgrades, maintenance services, and simulator relocations. Its Training & Services/Civil segment provides business, commercial, and helicopter aviation training services for flight, cabin, maintenance and ground personnel, and ab initio pilot training and crew sourcing services to regional airlines, helicopter operators, and general and business aviation markets. The company’s Simulation Products/Military segment offers military training equipment and software tools for fast jets, helicopters, trainer aircraft, and maritime patrol and tanker/transport aircraft, as well as offers simulation-based solutions for land and naval forces. CAE’s Training & Services/Military segment supplies turnkey training services, simulation-based integrated enterprise solutions, and maintenance and in-service support solutions. The company’s New Core Markets segment offers healthcare simulation solutions, including surgical and imaging simulation, curriculum, center management and highly realistic adult, and pediatric and baby patient simulators; develops and provides technology and services to plan, manage, and optimize mining operations. The company was formerly known as CAE Industries Ltd. and changed its name to CAE Inc. in June 1993. CAE Inc. was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Saint-Laurent, Canada.

BAE Systems, Beechcraft and CAE Develop Pilot Training System for AIR 5428 Project

BAE Systems Plc, Beechcraft Corporation and CAE Inc. have developed an integrated pilot training system, or PTS, that meets the Australian Defence Force's requirements by delivering training for its AIR 5428 project. The team has offered a proven system that focuses on delivering advanced skill levels, reducing training times and improving productivity. It would be delivered using a flexible learning environment, the renowned T-6C military training aircraft and a suite of synthetic flight training devices. BAE Systems Australia General Manager Aviation Solutions John Quaife said the team was ready to deliver the ADF's future pilot training.

CAE Inc. Introduces 7000XR Series Full-Flight Simulator

CAE Inc. introduced the CAE 7000XR series full-flight simulator, or FFS. Leveraging the latest advancements in technology and training capabilities, the CAE 7000XR Series is designed to optimize life-cycle costs for customers and to address new and future training requirements. Enhanced features include a re-designed instructor office with support for mobile devices and real-time data analysis and feedback, embedded training capabilities to address the new FAA regulation related to Upset Prevention and Recovery Training, and the CAE Flightscape Insight debriefing station with the Simulator Operational Quality Assurance (SOQA) system to assess training effectiveness. The CAE 7000XR Series also introduced the new CAE Sentinel diagnostic application, designed to optimize life-cycle operation by real-time monitoring, preventive and predicative maintenance, and advanced capabilities for support and troubleshooting. The CAE 7000XR Series will become the common platform for all CAE civil aircraft full-flight simulators. The first CAE 7000XR Series FFSs, built for the B737NG and for the A320 aircraft types, will be ready for training during the third quarter of 2014.

CAE Inc. Announces $250 Million Repayable Investment in Research and Development

CAE announced that the Government of Canada will participate in its latest research and development (R&D) program through a repayable investment of $250 million. The goal of CAE's Project Innovate, which will span five and half years, is to develop and expand CAE's current modeling and simulation technologies, develop new ones and continue to differentiate its service offering. This investment is being made through the Government of Canada's Strategic Aerospace and Defense Initiative (SADI), which supports strategic industrial research and pre-competitive development projects in the aerospace, defense, space and security industries. Under Project Innovate CAE will develop its next generation of simulation platforms for its civil aviation and defense markets. It will create a state-of-the-art modular system which will be more efficient and much easier to deploy and maintain. The new system will also enhance CAE's user experience. In addition, CAE will develop technologies and training solutions geared towards joint and networked operations in order to be a training systems integrator in air, sea and land domains.
