Community Health Systems, Inc. announces unaudited consolidated earning results for first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported net operating revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2013, totaled $3,311,750,000 a 0.4% increase compared with $3,297,035,000 for the same period in 2012. Income from operations was $285,991,000 against $349,128,000 a year ago. On a same-store basis, net operating revenues increased 1.4% compared with the same period in 2012. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $144,026,000 compared to $145,537,000 in the same period last year. Income from continuing operations decreased to $96,323,000, or $0.86 diluted per share, compared with $99,718,000 or $0.85 diluted per share, for the same period in 2012. Net income attributable to the company common stockholders was $79,174,000 or $0.86 diluted per share compared with $75,474,000 or $0.85 basic and diluted per share for the same period in 2012. Adjusted EBITDA was $493,829,000 compared with $535,495,000 for the same period in 2012, representing a 7.8% decrease. Net cash provided by operating activities was $57,154,000 compared with $187,310,000 for the same period in 2012. Purchases of property and equipment were $112,859,000 compared to $184,903,000 in the same period last year. Total capital expenditures for the quarter just ended were $113 million and only 3.4% of net revenue, and this compares to $185 million or 5.6% of net revenue for the first quarter of 2012.
