Chemring Group PLC, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures and sells energetic material products and countermeasures for the defense, security, and safety markets. It operates through four segments: Counter-improvised explosive device (IED), Countermeasures, Pyrotechnics, and Munitions. The Counter-IED segment provides vehicle-mounted ground penetrating radar detection systems, chemical and biological detection systems, counter-IED electronic countermeasures, and portable minefield breaching systems, as well as a range of detonators, initiators, and disruptors for demolition and explosive ordnance disposal. The Countermeasures segment is involved in the design, development, and manufacture of advanced expendable countermeasures for protecting air, sea, and land platforms; and development of man-portable electronic warfare equipment. This segment offers conventional flares, special material decoys, chaffs, RF and IR decoys, naval decoy launchers, electronic intelligence equipment and countermeasures, and lawful intercept equipment. The Pyrotechnics segment offers initiators, separation sub systems, thrusters and actuators, pyrotechnics and launchers, distraction and screening products, payloads, submarine distress signals, rocket motors, canopy cutting charges, and cartridge actuated devices, as well as smokes, flares, and rockets for space, safety systems, military training and screening, signaling, and illumination applications. The Munitions segment provides energetic materials, components, and sub systems, which include medium and large calibre ammunition, grenades, mortar ammunition, propellants and rocket motors, fuze and safe/arm units, and pyromechanisms and actuators. The company has operations in the United Kingdom and other European countries, the United States, Australia, and Far East. Chemring Group PLC was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Fareham, the United Kingdom.

Alloy Surfaces Company, Inc. and Kilgore Flares Company Receive $26 Million Countermeasures Contract by the US Department of Defense

Chemring Group plc announced that Alloy Surfaces Company, Inc. and Kilgore Flares Company, LLC have been awarded contracts worth $26 million for the manufacture of M211, M206, MJU-7A/B and MJU-10/B decoy devices for the US Army and the US Air Force. Deliveries under the contracts are scheduled to begin in June 2013 and will continue into 2015. The M211 decoy order is valued at $6 million, and will be produced at Alloy Surfaces. The M206, MJU-7A/B and MJU-10/B contracts are valued at $20 million, and will be produced at Kilgore Flares. The US Army and US Air Force use these decoys to protect all of their helicopters, and transport and fighter aircraft against man-portable air defense systems, commonly known as MANPADS.

Chemring Group plc reported interim management statement for the first three months ended January 2013. For the period, the company reported revenue from continuing operations was £136.1 million compared with £132.4 million in the prior year. The Group's net debt at the end of January 2013 was £285.9 million against £316.9 million as at January 31, 2012.
