In addition, it offers telecommunications network planning, design, and consulting services; roaming clearance services; technology platform development and maintenance services; and mobile data solutions, Internet services, and system integration and development services, as well as operates a network and business coordination center. Further, China Mobile Limited designs and sells electronic communication products; provides non-banking financial services; and sells mobile handsets, such as 3G handsets. As of December 31, 2012, it served approximately 710 million customers. The company was formerly known as China Mobile (Hong Kong) Limited and changed its name to China Mobile Limited in May 2006. China Mobile Limited was founded in 1997. The company is based in Central, Hong Kong, and is considered a Red Chip company due to its listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. China Mobile Limited is a subsidiary of China Mobile Hong Kong (BVI) Limited.

China Mobile Limited reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, operating revenue reached RMB 134.7 billion, up by 5.7% over the same period a year ago. EBITDA was RMB 61.2 billion, up by 0.8% over the same period a year ago. Profit attributable to equity shareholders was RMB 27.9 billion, up by 0.3% over the same period a year ago.
Vodafone Group Public Limited Company and China Mobile Limited jointly announced that they have signed an agreement to form a consortium to bid for a mobile telecommunications license in Myanmar. This strategic agreement builds on a strong relationship between the two companies dating back to 2000. The two new licenses will authorize the license holders to build, own and operate a mobile network on a nationwide basis for an initial term of 15 years. The Vodafone-China Mobile pre-qualification application has been submitted to the Myanmar authorities in line with the submission deadline of 4 April 2013. Further details of the proposed Vodafone-China Mobile consortium will be announced in due course.
