The company promotes and produces musical concerts, theatrical productions, family shows, and other forms of live entertainment; operates entertainment venues, including food, beverage, souvenir, and merchandise concessions; and sells automated tickets for live entertainment events and entertainment venues using the Ticketmaster system. It also focuses on the operation and development of the Las Américas Complex, which includes a professional horseracing track; and the operation of remote sports-betting parlors and numbers-based gaming outlets. In addition, the company operates children’s theme park and a convention and exposition center; and provides corporate clients with promotional and advertising channels for their advertising campaigns, including naming rights, advertising space at its amusement parks, and at field level in professional soccer stadiums, as well as on pedestrian overpasses, airports, and in movie theaters. Further, it develops telemarketing programs; and operates an amusement complex, which includes an amusement park and a water part. The company has strategic alliances with Ticketmaster Corp., Codere, T4F, Grupo Televisa, and International Game Technology. Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento, SAB de CV reported consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and year to date of 2012. For the quarter, the company reported sales of MXN 1,533 compared to MXN 1,220 a year ago. Operating income was MXN 190 compared to MXN 117 a year ago. Earnings before taxes were MXN 154 compared to loss before taxes of MXN 39 a year ago. Earnings after taxes were MXN 58 compared to loss after taxes of MXN 82 a year ago. Net income was MXN 58 compared to net loss of MXN 44 a year ago. Majority net income was MXN 30 compared to majority net loss of MXN 66 a year ago. EBITDA was MXN 258 million compared to MXN 190 a year ago. Net income increased as a consequence of a higher level of operating income; a lower level in interest paid by CIE's holding company to prepay the debt in past February; a smaller net exchange rate loss; and offsetting the foregoing, a higher provision for taxes. The increase in taxes on earnings is the consequence of a higher level of earnings before taxes recorded during the period, in comparison with the same quarter of the prior year. This increase in EBITDA is the result of the growth in revenues. For the year to date, the company reported sales of MXN 4,536 compared to MXN 4,300 a year ago. Operating income was MXN 480 compared to MXN 415 a year ago. Earnings before taxes were MXN 377 compared to MXN 32 a year ago. Earnings after taxes were MXN 96 compared to loss after taxes of MXN 110 a year ago. Net income was MXN 135 compared to MXN 16 a year ago. Majority net income was MXN 39 compared to majority net loss of MXN 109 a year ago. EBITDA was MXN 679 million compared to MXN 629 a year ago. On September 30, 2012 total debt for the company was MXN 2,276 compared to MXN 4,988 recorded at the close of the year 2011, this decrease is mainly a consequence of the debt prepayment made in February of 2012.
