CIT Group Inc. operates as the holding company for CIT bank that provides commercial financing and leasing products, as well as deposit products and savings accounts. The company operates through five segments: Corporate Finance, Transportation Finance, Trade Finance, Vendor Finance, and Consumer. The Corporate Finance segment offers lending, leasing, and other financial and advisory services to small and middle-market companies across various industries, including commercial and industrial, communications, media and entertainment, healthcare, and energy. The Transportation Finance segment provides aircraft and railcar, leasing and financing solutions to operators and suppliers in the aviation and North American rail car industries. This segment also offers lending and other financial products and services to companies in the transportation sector, such as business aircraft, maritime, and aerospace and defense industries. The Trade Finance segment provides a range of local and international customized credit protection, lending, and outsourcing services that include working capital and term loans, factoring, receivable management products, bulk purchases of accounts receivable, import and export financing, and letter of credit programs to retail supply chain companies. The Vendor Finance segment partners with manufacturers, distributors, and product resellers to deliver financing and leasing solutions to end-user customers. The Consumer segment offers government-guaranteed student loan portfolios, which are in run-off. The company also provides account receivables collection, acquisition and expansion financing, asset management, credit protection, financial risk management, import and export financing, letters of credit, insurance, and mergers and acquisition advisory, as well as debt restructuring, underwriting, and syndication services. CIT Group Inc. was founded in 1908 and is based in New York, New York.

CIT Trade Finance announced the appointment of Patrick Wiggins as Business Development Officer. Based in the CIT Atlanta office, he will be responsible for generating asset-based lending and factoring business in the Southeast United States. Wiggins has nearly 20 years of experience in the finance industry, most recently as Vice President, Portfolio Manager for SunTrust Robinson-Humphrey. CIT Group Inc. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2013; Announces Net Charge-Offs

CIT Group Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, total interest income was $355.8 million, net interest revenue was $63.9 million, income before provision for income taxes was $180.8 million, net income was $162.6 million or $0.81 per basic and diluted share against total interest income of $426.3 million, net interest negative revenue of $654.3 million, loss before provision for income taxes of $385.8 million, net loss of $427 million or $2.13 per basic and diluted share for the same period a year ago. Book value per common share was $42.21 and tangible book value per common share was $40.35 against book value per common share of $42.17 and tangible book value per common share of $40.19 a year ago. Net charge-offs were $10 million, or 0.18% as a percentage of average finance receivables, versus $22 million or 0.44% in the year-ago quarter and $17 million or 0.34% in the prior quarter. Net charge-offs in the commercial segments were 0.22% of average finance receivables, compared to 0.56% in the year-ago quarter and 0.41% in the prior quarter.
