Corus Entertainment Inc., an integrated media and entertainment company, operates radio stations, and specialty, pay, and conventional television networks in Canada and internationally. It operates through two segments, Television and Radio. The Television segment operates specialty television networks, pay television services, and conventional television stations. Its content business is involved in the production and distribution of films and television programs; merchandise licensing; publishing; and animation software sale activities. This segment distributes and licenses proprietary films and television programs; sells licenses, customer support, training, and consulting related to the animation software business; and provides advertising services. It also develops, produces, and distributes children’s animated content from Nelvana Studio, as well as to broadcasters and home entertainment companies. In addition, this segment publishes children’s books, including a list of approximately 500 picture books, non-fiction, and fiction titles for toddlers to young adults. Its television assets include the kids services YTV, Treehouse, Nickelodeon (Canada), ABC Spark, TELETOON, and TELETOON Retro; the women’s services W Network, Cosmopolitan TV, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada) and W Movies, CMT (Canada), Sundance Channel (Canada), and Telelatino; and Movie Central, a pay TV service, with nine multiplex channels, including HBO Canada and three local over-the-air television stations. The Radio segment operates 37 radio stations that offer rock, news-talk, hits, adult contemporary, and country under the 102.1 the Edge, Q107, 630 CHED, CKNW AM 980, 680 CJOB, and Country 105 brands connecting listeners and communities across the country, on-air, online, and on site. Corus Entertainment Inc. was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Corus Entertainment Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended May 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of CAD 214,041,000 compared to CAD 187,073,000 a year ago. Loss before income taxes was CAD 15,178,000 compared to income before income taxes of CAD 102,644,000 a year ago. Net loss attributable to shareholders was CAD 30,325,000 or CAD 0.36 per basic and diluted share compared to net income attributable to shareholders of CAD 89,913,000 or CAD 1.07 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Cash provided by operating activities was CAD 63,483,000 compared to CAD 43,039,000 a year ago. Additions to property, plant and equipment were CAD 3,435,000 compared to CAD 2,853,000 a year ago. Net cash flows for intangibles, investments and other assets were CAD 2,321,000 compared to CAD 2,321,000 a year ago. Adjusted net income attributable to shareholders was CAD 41.6 million, up 21% in the quarter. Adjusted basic earnings per share attributable to shareholders of CAD 0.49, up 20% in the quarter. Free cash flow was CAD 59,399,000 compared to CAD 41,475,000 a year ago. For the nine months, the company reported revenues of CAD 631,459,000 compared to CAD 569,639,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was CAD 173,761,000 compared to CAD 182,453,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to shareholders was CAD 126,682,000 or CAD 1.49 per diluted share compared to CAD 148,016,000 or CAD 1.76 per diluted share a year ago. Net cash flows for intangibles, investments and other assets were CAD 7,395,000 compared to CAD 9,287,000 a year ago. Free cash flow was CAD 182.4 million year-to-date, up from CAD 121.1 million in the prior year. Adjusted net income attributable to shareholders was CAD 123,560,000 or CAD 1.46 per basic share compared to CAD 111,110,000 or CAD 1.33 per basic share a year ago.
