Centralschweizerische Kraftwerke announced earnings and production results for the first half of 2014. For the period, the company suffered a 33.7% year-on-year drop in first-half net profit to CHF 82.6 million (USD 92.2 million/EUR 67.7 million) due to low electricity prices. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) dropped 37% to CHF 86 million in the six months through March 31, 2014. For the period, the company's total output fell by CHF 73.6 million to CHF 465.7 million. In addition to falling electricity prices, the sharp drop was a result of a one-off effect that boosted last year's result.
