It offers a range of products for trading and/or clearing across various asset classes, based on interest rates, equity indexes, foreign exchange, energy, agricultural commodities, metals, weather, and real estate. The products include both exchange-traded and over-the-counter derivatives. The company executes trades through its electronic trading platforms, open outcry, and privately negotiated transactions, as well as provides hosting, connectivity, and customer support for electronic trading through its co-location services. It also offers clearing and settlement services for exchange-traded contracts, as well as for cleared over-the-counter derivatives transactions; and regulatory reporting solutions for market participants through global repository services in the United States and the United Kingdom. In addition, the company provides various market data services, including live quotes, delayed quotes, market reports, and historical data service. CME Group serves professional traders, financial institutions, institutional and individual investors, major corporations, manufacturers, producers, governments, and central banks. The company was formerly known as Chicago Mercantile Exchange Holdings Inc. and changed its name to CME Group Inc. in July 2007. CME Group Inc. was founded in 1898 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

Thomson Reuters Provides Access to Deeper Commodity Markets Liquidity Through an Agreement with CME Group

Thomson Reuters announced that it is providing access to deeper commodity markets liquidity through an agreement with CME Group. Thomson Reuters Eikon customers registered to trade on CME Group markets can now access CME Direct, a front-end trading platform for CME Group's commodity futures, options and OTC markets. This agreement provides commodities professionals with seamless access to CME Direct's electronic execution capabilities alongside the news, charting and analysis tools available in Thomson Reuters Eikon. Covering CME Group's full suite of futures, options and OTC markets for energy, metals and agriculture, the agreement will improve the ease with which Eikon and CME Direct clients can research, enter and manage trades. Asset classes covered include CME Group's NYMEX energy, COMEX metals and CBOT agricultural commodity markets. This agreement also continues to expand the commodity markets liquidity that Thomson Reuters offers its customers, and complements an earlier agreement with CQG which added connections to 65 Futures Commission Merchants.

McGraw-Hill, CME Said To Weigh Joint Bid for Barclays Index Arm

McGraw Hill Financial, Inc. (NYSE:MHFI) and CME Group Inc. (NasdaqGS:CME) are interested in acquiring Barclays PLC (LSE:BARC) index business and merging it with S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC, according to people familiar with the matter. McGraw-Hill and CME are weighing a joint bid for the Index, Portfolio and Risk Solutions unit, or IPRS, which could fetch more than $500 million in a sale, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter isn’t public. Intercontinental Exchange Inc. is also weighing offers for the business, with first-round bids due by the end of the month, the people said.
