The company’s Cobra Consumer Electronics segment offers radar/laser detection, photo-enforcement and safety detection, mobile navigation for professional drivers and recreational vehicles, dash cams, citizens band radios, power inverters, two-way radios, marine electronics, wireless solutions and mobile app products, and intelligent mobile power solutions under the Cobra brand name. It distributes its products through a network of retailers and distributors in approximately 80 countries. This segment sells its products to retailers, such as general merchandisers, mass marketers, consumer electronics specialty stores, warehouse clubs, television home-shopping and Internet retailers, direct-response merchandisers, home centers, specialty stores, and a travel center. The company’s Performance Products Limited segment provides personal navigation devices under the names of Snooper Truckmate and Snooper Ventura; and GPS-enabled speed camera location detectors under the Snooper My Speed and Snooper 3 Zero names. This segment also offers outdoor leisure products; and a database of speed camera locations and other driving hazards, such as high-accident zones for driver safety under the AURA brand name. In addition, it provides E-Bike, a folding electric bike; WPT250M, a tracking device to monitor the location of boats, vehicles, pets, or individuals; Snooper Lynx iPhone application that allows the user to share and receive the positions of mobile speed traps with other users; and E-Bike Strada, an electric bike incorporating an in-frame rechargeable battery. This segment markets its products through a network of retailers and distributors, as well as through its Website. The company was founded in 1961 and is based in Chicago, Illinois.

Cobra Electronics Corporation reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net sales of $28.74 million against $25.63 million a year ago. Earnings from operations were $0.308 million against loss from operations of $1.87 million a year ago. Earnings before taxes were $0.097 million against loss before taxes of $1.93 million a year ago. Net earnings were $0.087 million or $0.01 per basic and diluted share against net loss of $1.94 million or $0.29 per basic and diluted share a year ago. For the six months, the company reported net sales of $50.12 million against $47.21 million a year ago. Loss from operations was $1.33 million against loss from operations of $3.59 million a year ago. Loss before taxes was $1.59 million against loss before taxes of $3.47 million a year ago. Net loss was $1.58 million or $0.24 per basic and diluted share against net loss of $3.48 million or $0.53 per basic and diluted share a year ago. The company anticipates a significant operating income for fiscal year 2014 when compared to the operating loss in fiscal year 2013.
