continental ag (CON) Key Developments

Continental AG's VDO Brand Develops New REDI-Sensor Solution

Continental AG has announced that its VDO brand has developed the new REDI-Sensor solution. With the VDO REDI-Sensor solution, Continental's VDO brand has developed sensors that are all suitable for use in a wide range of vehicles and therefore greatly simplify operations with these systems. VDO REDI-Sensors also offers a range of other advantages which include: they are suitable for use with many different vehicles; no additional sensor programming for workshops; and new positioning of the sensor. At present, practically every TPMS-equipped vehicle that comes to a workshop requires a specific TPM sensor. In the future, however, all workshops will be able to cater to a wide range of different vehicles using just three VDO REDI-Sensor variants. This will greatly simplify storage and logistics for workshops and spare parts dealers alike. Comparable multi-application solutions have to be specially programmed in the workshop every time a new vehicle arrives. The VDO REDI-Sensor, by contrast, is supplied in a container which is then glued to the inner surface of the tire. This simplifies the installation of the sensor in the workshop and protects the sensor better against damage and various external aggressors during everyday operation. Because it is positioned inside the tire, the European VDO REDI-Sensor can be combined with any vehicle wheel rim, an aesthetic advantage that delights vehicle owners who place value on the uniform appearance of their wheel rims. The fact that growing numbers of vehicles are being fitted with tire pressure monitoring systems will also have an impact on workshop tire services as well as on specialist tire dealers. With the REDI -Sensor from VDO, workshops are optimally equipped for the new tasks they face in their everyday work and can react immediately to customer requests. The fact that the VDO REDI-Sensor can be installed quickly easily saves precious time in the workshop.

Continental AG Launches VDO TPMS PRO Service Device

Continental AG announced has launched its new VDO TPMS PRO service device. The practical, new VDO TPMS PRO service device can be used to read and trigger pre-programmed multi-application and OE Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) sensors plus program multi-application sensors. This practical unit uses wireless technology to read TPM sensors, irrespective of whether these sensors are the originally installed devices or have since been replaced. The VDO TPMS PRO is able to determine important sensor information such as tire pressure, temperature, battery status or sensor ID in a matter of moments. The high-performance TPMS tool not only reads data but can also program or configure unprogrammed aftermarket sensors. This operation is unnecessary in the case of preprogrammed sensors such as the VDO REDI-Sensor and OE sensors. VDO TPMS PRO also possesses an OBD II interface. This means that the device is able to teach "relearn" TPM sensors to the vehicle, read out any TPMS diagnostic trouble codes or display system-specific information. As a result, the VDO TPMS PRO is able to handle all service tasks involving TPM sensors. The VDO TPMS PRO is equipped with a 4.3-inch color display. Operation of the device is intuitive its clearly-structured, multilingual menu and self-explanatory navigation buttons. Further, a barcode scanner permits easy data acquisition. If required, the acquired data can be assigned to a vehicle ID and stored. The data can be transferred to a PC via USB, Wifi or SD card. The VDO TPMS PRO is also optionally available as a PRINT version which comes equipped with a docking station and integrated infrared data printer. With immediate effect, the VDO portfolio now also contains the products TPMS Pro, TPMS Pro Print and TPMS Basic.
