CRISIL Limited, together with its subsidiaries, provides ratings, research, and risk and policy advisory services primarily in India, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It operates in three business segment: Ratings, Research, and Advisory. The company’s rating services include credit ratings for corporates, banks, and small and medium enterprises; credit rating training; credit analysis services; grading services; and analytical services. It offers rating services for various debt instruments, including bank loans, certificates of deposit, commercial paper, non-convertible debentures, bank hybrid capital instruments, asset-backed securities, mortgage-backed securities, perpetual bonds, and partial guarantees; and bond, bank loan, and real estate business. The company also provides equity and credit research, risk and analytics, trading, and risk management services to commercial and investment banks, insurance companies, corporations, consulting firms, private equity players, and asset management firms; and economy, industry, company, mutual fund, and fixed income research services. In addition, it offers infrastructure advisory services to regulators and governments, multilateral agencies, investors, and large public and private sector firms. Further, the company provides a range of risk management tools, analytics, and solutions to financial institutions, banks, and corporates; and equity and corporate research, industry reports, customized research assignments, subscription to data services, and initial public offer grading services. It has a joint venture with the National Stock Exchange of India Limited to offer various indices and index-related services and products to the capital markets. The company was formerly known as The Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited and changed its name to CRISIL Limited in December 2003. CRISIL Limited was founded in 1987 and is based in Mumbai, India.
