CARBO Ceramics Inc., an oilfield services technology company, manufactures and sells ceramic proppants, resin-coated ceramic, and resin-coated sand proppants for use in the hydraulic fracturing of natural gas and oil wells in the United States and internationally. The company offers ceramic proppants, including CARBOHSP and CARBOPROP designed for use in deep gas wells; CARBOLITE used in medium depth oil and gas wells; CARBOECONOPROP; CARBOHYDROPROP to enhance performance in slickwater fracture treatments; CARBOBOND LITE for oil and natural gas wells that are subject to the risk of proppant flow-back; CARBOBOND RCS, a conductivity proppant; CARBONRT, a detectable proppant used to assist operators in determining the locations of fractures in natural gas and oil wells; and KRYPTOSPHERE-H, a high-performance ceramic proppant engineered to deliver increased conductivity and durability in the highest closure stress wells. It also provides fracture simulation software under the FracPro brand, as well as offers hydraulic fracture design and consulting services. In addition, the company provides a range of technologies for spill prevention, containment, and countermeasures. It principally sells its products and services to operators of oil and natural gas wells, and oilfield service companies. The company was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

CARBO Ceramics Inc. Announces Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2014

CARBO Ceramics Inc. announced earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, revenues were $176,561,000, operating profit was $34,109,000, income before income taxes was $34,309,000 and net income was $23,017,000 or $1.00 per diluted share against revenues of $153,744,000, operating profit of $23,876,000, income before income taxes of $24,088,000 and net income of $16,307,000 or $0.71 per diluted share for the same period a year ago. Revenues for the second quarter of 2014 increased 15%, or $22.8 million, compared to the second quarter of 2013. The increase is mainly attributable to an increase in proppant sales volumes. Operating profit for the second quarter of 2014 increased 43%, or $10.2 million, compared to the second quarter of 2013. The increase is primarily the result of higher ceramic sales volumes and a favorable ceramic product mix, net of higher SG&A expenses. For the six months, revenues were $325,125,000, operating profit was $61,520,000, income before income taxes was $61,812,000 and net income was $41,444,000 or $1.79 per diluted share against revenues of $301,402,000, operating profit of $49,267,000, income before income taxes of $49,592,000 and net income of $33,883,000 or $1.47 per diluted share for the same period a year ago.

CARBO Announces Quarterly Dividend Increase Payable on August 15, 2014

CARBO Ceramics Inc. announced that its Board of Director's approved an increase in the company's quarterly dividend to $0.33 per common share, or $1.32 per common share on an annualized basis. This represents an increase of 10% over the Company's previous quarterly dividend and marks the fourteenth consecutive year the company has increased its dividend to shareholders. The dividend is payable on August 15, 2014 to shareholders of record on August 1, 2014.
