Orange Slovakia Selects Cisco to Support LTE Platform

Orange Slovakia has selected the Cisco ASR 5000 Series elastic evolved packet core as a central element of its recently launched 4G long-term evolution (LTE) network. Orange Slovakia Chooses Cisco's Cisco(R) ASR 5000 Series

Cisco announced that Orange Slovakia has chosen the Cisco(R) ASR 5000 Series elastic evolved packet core as a central element of its recently launched 4G long-term evolution (LTE) network. By implementing the Cisco ASR 5000 Series, Orange Slovakia intends to multiply its network capacity with minimal incremental investment and bring the user experience much closer to that of wireline connections. The network elasticity of the Cisco solution will allow Orange Slovakia to transform its architecture and seamlessly migrate mobile data traffic from existing 2G and 3G networks. With this new implementation, Orange Slovakia will be better prepared for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications and the Internet of Everything (IoE). According to the Cisco Visual Networking Index, global mobile data traffic will increase nearly 11-fold between 2013 and 2018. Mobile data traffic will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 61%, reaching 15.9 exabytes per month by 2018. In Central and Eastern Europe, according to the same study, the growth rate of mobile data traffic will be above the global average with a 13-fold increase. 4G traffic is expected to account for 29% of total mobile data traffic in the region by 2018, compared with 3% at the end of 2013.

Virtustream Announces Partnership with Infosys, NetApp and Cisco to Deliver Assured Testing-as-a-Service for Applications Built on SAP HANA(R) Platform

Virtustream announced a joint partnership with Infosys and NetApp to deliver assured Testing-as-a-Service (TaaS) for applications built on the SAP HANA(R) platform. The new service, called TaaS Powered by xStream for SAP(R) applications, will provide turnkey-testing on-site at a customer's data center, in the Virtustream cloud, and via other enterprise cloud service providers that are powered by xStream, including those supporting the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud service. The TaaS service also features Cisco networking technology and Cisco UCS servers based on Intel E7 V2 processors. The TaaS Powered by xStream offering will enable QA teams to significantly reduce both the time required to take a solution to market and the resources required to test SAP applications for issues or implement new functionality, modules and enhancement packs via a pay-as-you-go model, as opposed to a subscription service. As part of this partnership, Virtustream, Infosys, NetApp and Cisco will lend their respective expertise and solutions to the TaaS Powered by xStream offering for SAP applications, including those running on SAP HANA. The Infosys ERP Package Testing and Validation Practice delivers a comprehensive suite of testing services, led by testing professionals that specialize in ERP and SAP applications, tools and accelerators. In the cloud, Virtustream's xStream platform provides an on-demand, cloud-based delivery model for TaaS for SAP applications, including guaranteed service levels, high-availability and disaster-recovery functionality required for mission-critical enterprise applications. On-site, Virtustream's xStream provides the cloud orchestration for compute and storage across FlexPod(R) architecture -- offered jointly by NetApp and Cisco. In addition, Cisco and NetApp provide the FlexPods(R) with FlexClone(R), enabling parallel work streams, as well as increased speed for building and refreshing SAP solution-based landscapes and automation of highly repetitive tasks common in testing services. Intel's cloud reference architecture and its Xeon(R) processors underpin both the cloud-based and on-premises options for TaaS Powered by xStream for SAP applications to enable rapid deployment in the cloud.
