Chevron Corporation Announces Operating Results for the First Two Months of the First Quarter of 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the First Quarter of 2014

Chevron Corporation announced operating results for the first two months of the first quarter of 2014. For the period, the company reported, under U.S. Upstream operations, net production: liquid was 436 mbd, natural gas was 1,205 mmcfd and total oil equivalent was 637 mboed. Chevron Corporation reported in its interim update that earnings for the first quarter 2014 are expected to be lower than fourth quarter 2013, principally as a result of adverse foreign exchange effects, and selected asset impairments and related charges. Absent these impacts, first quarter 2014 earnings are expected to be comparable with the prior quarter's results.

Supreme Court of Canada Grants Chevron the Right to Appeal a Decision by a Local Appellate Court

The Supreme Court of Canada on April 3, 2014 granted Chevron the right to appeal a decision by a local appellate court that said a group of Ecuadorian villagers and their plaintiffs could pursue a multi-billion dollar pollution judgment against the company in the Canadian province of Ontario. In December 2013, the Court of Appeal for Ontario overturned a previous ruling by the Ontario Supreme Court, saying that the $9.5 billion litigation should have the opportunity to be heard - a verdict that Chevron immediately contested. Following present decision, the company announced it would 'look forward to demonstrating to the Supreme Court that the trial court in Ontario has no jurisdiction to hear the action brought by the Ecuadorian plaintiffs'.

Chevron and PGNiG Jointly Explore for Shale Gas

PGNiG announced that it has signed an agreement with Chevron to jointly hunt for shale gas in southwestern Poland in a move to speed up the exploration. The companies say cooperation will help cut their costs and risks.
