Ceres Power Holdings PLC announced that Rex Vevers and Phil Whalen step down from the Board as Finance Director and Technology Director respectively. Richard Preston is appointed to the Board as Finance Director, having been Financial Controller since June 2008. Prior to joining Ceres Power, Richard held a number of finance and business transformation roles at Cable & Wireless. In addition to these changes, the Board announced that Dr. Mark Selby is appointed as the new Director of Technology for Ceres Power. Mark has been with Ceres since 2006 in the Controls and then Systems Engineering team, where he held the post of Senior Principal Engineer, System Performance. Prior to joining Ceres Power, he was a Senior Engineer of Controls at Ricardo UK Limited.

Ceres Power Holdings PLC announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the six months ended December 31, 2012. For the period, the company reported revenue of £502,000 against £136,000 a year ago. Operating loss was £8,461,000 against £9,382,000 a year ago. Loss for the financial period was £7,611,000 against £8,154,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share was 6.83 pence against 9.46 pence a year ago. Loss before income tax was £8,444,000 against £9,261,000 a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was £5,534,000 against £7,298,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was £30,000 against £970,000 a year ago. The loss attributable to shareholders was less than the prior period at £7.6 million with the reduction in the size of the business, the reduced level of operations and the increase in revenue largely offset by the one-off restructuring charges incurred in the period. This net reduction in net cash used in operating activities arose from the lower operating loss in the period of £0.8 million and a favourable net movement in working capital of £2.5 million, partly offset by the income tax recovery not being received until after the end of the period.
