California Water Service Group reaffirmed earnings guidance for the year 2013. For the year, the company estimates net income will be in the range of $35.7 million to $39.9 million.
California Water Service Group reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the period, the company's operating revenue was $111,444,000 against $116,749,000 a year ago. Net operating income was $5,770,000 against $6,607,000 a year ago. Net loss was $1,073,000 or $0.03 per basic and diluted share against income of $1,085,000 or $0.03 per basic and diluted share a year ago. The primary reason for the reduction in revenue was a net benefit of $8.9 million in revenue from the reversal of the 2011 deferred Water Revenue Adjustment Mechanism (WRAM) account balance recorded during the first quarter of 2012. In addition, revenue during the quarter was reduced by a $3.0 million decrease in accrued unbilled revenue which is not included in the WRAM balance and driven by lower consumption.
California Water Service Group Board of Directors declared the company's 273rd consecutive quarterly dividend in the amount of $0.1600 per common share. It will be payable on May 17, 2013, to stockholders of record on May 6, 2013.
