Commonwealth Bank of Australia announced that it is scheduled to pay quarterly cash distribution of $2.1367 per PERLS V security on October 31, 2014. The cash distribution rate was 4.2385%. The dividend is to be payable on October 31, 2014 as on record date of October 24, 2014. The ex distribution date is October 22, 2014. The distribution is expected to be fully franked.

Commonwealth Bank Appoints Hon Ian Callinan AC as Chairman of the Independent Review Panel for Open Advice Review Program

Commonwealth Bank announced that retired Justice of the High Court of Australia, the Hon Ian Callinan AC, has been appointed Chairman of the Independent Review Panel for the recently announced Open Advice Review program. Mr. Callinan's appointment is effective immediately. His initial priority is to advise the Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Bank, Mr. Ian Narev, with respect to key design elements of the program to ensure it fulfils its primary objective of supporting affected customers and guaranteeing an independent review of their cases. Mr. Callinan will also have input on appointments of other senior experts to the Independent Review Panel, who will be suitably qualified and equally independent people. Mr. Callinan will then chair the Panel as it considers any unresolved customer cases through the duration of the program. For five decades, Mr. Callinan has served in many important roles concerning justice and equity for individuals in Australia and abroad. Prior to his decade as a Justice of the High Court of Australia, he was a renowned QC with an extensive practice across Australia. In January this year, Mr. Callinan was appointed an ad hoc Judge of the International Court of Justice.

Commonwealth Bank Not To Exit Financial Planning

Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) has no plans to spin off or sell the financial planning businesses or funds management unit, Chief Executive, Ian Nare explained in an interview with Nine’s Financial Review Sunday program. Ian Narev said, "These are good businesses. We have done very well in funds management and the advice business. We actually think the idea of giving customers good affordable advice is a really critical part of what a good financial institution ought to be able to do."
