Daimler Launches New Version of Tiny Smart Car

Daimler AG is unveiling a new version of its tiny, two-seat Smart model in hopes the car won't just grab attention with its unusual design - but make a bigger contribution to the company's profits as well. The new version is the same length at only 2.7 meters, or 8 feet, 10 inches, but is slightly wider and has a short front hood where the old one had none.

Mercedes-Benz Announces New CLA-Class Variants and New S65 AMG Coupe

Mercedes-Benz announced a number of new model variants including new CLA-Class models and the range-topping performance version of the S-Class Coupe range, the S65 AMG. The company will introduces four-wheel drive versions of its successful CLA-Class range with the CLA 200 CDI 4MATIC and CLA 220 CDI 4MATIC, as well as a new powertrain in the CLA 200 CDI two-wheel drive variant, with a displacement increase from 1.8 litres to 2.2 litres. An additional A-Class will be added in September when the above models will also become available, with a four-wheel drive version of the A-Class in the form of the A 220 4MATIC. There will also be an additional GLA-Class in the form of the entry-level GLA 180 CDI, which with the 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission features a combined fuel consumption of just 3.9 l/100 km. The S65 AMG is a fast and most powerful version of the newly launched S-Class Coupe range. At the heart of the car is AMG's twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V-12 engine gasoline (petrol) powertrain which develops 621bhp and 738 lb/ft of torque. This propels the car to 62mph in 4.1 seconds - one-tenth of a second faster than the S63 AMG - with a limited top speed of 155mph. Mercedes also claims that the S65 AMG is capable of returning combined average fuel consumption of 23.7mpg, with CO2 emissions of 279g/km. However, the model gets the previous-generation seven-speed automatic transmission as a result of the extremely high torque level the powertrain generates.
