Daimler AG (XTRA:DAI) is considering to divest company owned dealerships in Germany to cut costs and improve the firm's margins, according to a Reuters report. Daimler is looking at initially selling four dealerships in Germany and will carry out further transactions if the initial sales go well. An unnamed source said, "Management wants to try this out to see exactly how it would work in practice. They are gathering experience that could serve as a blueprint..."
Chrysler has announced that it has started construction of a new engine assembly line at its Trenton site in Michigan (United States). The new production line will manufacture the automaker's Tigershark four-cylinder gasoline (petrol) engine that is already built at its Dundee Engine Plant in the same state. This will create around 200 jobs.
Mercedes-Benz Cars, a subsidiary of Daimler AG has named Andrew Mallery as its marketing director, effective June 3, 2013. Mallery will replace David George who will continue his career with Mercedes-Benz by joining one of its retail partners in the south of England. He will also retain responsibility for Mercedes-Benz World, the brand experience centre at Brooklands, Surrey.
