NTT Docomo Launches 2014 Winter/2015 Spring Mobile Device Lineup

NTT Docomo has introduced its 2014 winter/2015 spring lineup of mobile devices. The lineup includes seven smartphones, two tablets, two feature phones, one Raku-Raku (easy-easy) phone, two mobile Wi-Fi routers, and one each feature phone and wristwatch-type wearable device for kids and juniors, to be launched in Japan on or after 4 October 2014. The collection features a range of devices incorporating advanced mobile technologies, including a VoLTE service, mobile Wi-Fi routers compatible with Docomo's LTE-A network.

NTT Docomo Inc. announced that it will launch a workout data management service in December that is compatible with smartphones and smart sportswear.

NTT DOCOMO, INC. to Release Runtastic for Docomo Fitness Service

NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced that it will release this coming December a new fitness service, called Runtastic for docomo, that supports smarter, healthier lives by collecting and measuring fitness-related data during physical activity. Runtastic for docomo, which was jointly developed with the Austrian fitness app provider Runtastic, will be offered in six apps, one each for running/jogging, biking, squats, push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups. Users can choose from among 30 training programs and use the apps to set personal goals. The service will cost JPY 350 per month (tax excluded). The apps are compatible with smartphones and tablets running either on Android 2.3 or iOS 7.0, or later versions. GPS technology is used to collect data on workout time, distance, route, calories burned and more. Data is stored in the cloud and accessed via either the app or a web browser, allowing users to receive detailed analysis and health tips, as well as to share the data.
