Ducommun Incorporated provides engineering and manufacturing products and services primarily to the aerospace, defense, industrial, natural resources, medical, and other industries. It operates through two segments, Ducommun LaBarge Technologies (DLT) and Ducommun Aerostructures (DAS). The DLT segment offers cable assemblies and interconnect systems; printed circuit board assemblies; higher-level electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical assemblies; radar enclosures; aircraft avionics racks; shipboard communications and control enclosures; wire harnesses; and interconnect systems. This segment also provides engineered products, such as illuminated pushbutton switches and panels for aviation and test systems; microwave and millimeter switches and filters for radio frequency systems and test instrumentation; and motors and resolvers for motion control. This segment also provides engineering expertise for aerospace system design, development, integration, and test. It serves commercial and military fixed wing aircraft, military and commercial helicopter, and space programs, as well as non-aerospace applications for the industrial automation, natural resources, and medical device end-use markets. The DAS segment designs, engineers, and manufactures large complex contoured aerospace structural components and assemblies comprising winglets and fuselage structural panels for aircraft; and metal and composite bonded structures and assemblies, including aircraft wing spoilers, fuselage skins, helicopter blades and components, flight control surfaces, and engine components. The company’s products are also used in industrial test systems, energy exploration systems, semiconductor fabrication units, glass electronic manufacturing systems, mine automation and control systems, patient monitoring devices, respiratory care devices, bio-decontamination equipment, and other technology-driven products. Ducommun Incorporated was founded in 1849 and is based in Carson, California.

Boeing whistleblowers failed to show that the company and one of its suppliers defrauded the government in a $1.6 billion contract. U.S. District Judge Monti Belot rejected all claims brought by former employees Taylor Smith, Jeannine Prewitt and James Ailes against Ducommun Inc. and Boeing The 2005 lawsuit claimed Boeing defrauded the U.S. government by using bogus parts, or ones produced with manually controlled machine tolls instead of computerized machine tools, in a contract for 24 737 Next Generation aircraft, and then knowingly and falsely certified that the planes conformed to contract specifications and Federal Aviation Administration regulations.

Ducommun Incorporated Wins Contract to Produce Spoilers for Boeing 737 Max

Ducommun Incorporated reported that it has received a contract from Boeing to produce ground and flight spoilers for the 737 MAX -- Boeing's new family of single-aisle airplanes. Ducommun will produce the spoilers at the company's Monrovia, Calif. operations with support from its Guaymas, Mexico facility. Ducommun has provided structural solutions for the 737 platform since its inception. Earlier this year, the Company announced it will also support the 737 MAX by producing engine inlet bulkheads and structural titanium assemblies used in the propulsion and thrust reversers. The Boeing 737 MAX will build on the 737 platform's reliability while delivering the fuel efficiency to the single-aisle market. First flight is scheduled for 2016, with deliveries to customers anticipated to begin in 2017. The 737 MAX has already accumulated over 2,200 orders and is expected to have 8% lower per-seat operating costs than its competition.
