Daiman Development Berhad, together with its subsidiaries, is engaged in the property development and investment businesses in Malaysia and internationally. It operates through Property Development, Property Investment, Non-Property Investment, Trading, Leisure and Recreation, and Other segments. The company develops residential, commercial, and industrial properties, as well as manages and operates buildings. It also sells building materials, including cement, steel bars, BRC materials, red/cement bricks, sand, timber/plywood, concrete and clay roof tiles, ceramic/homogeneous/quarry tiles, quarry products, M.S. roofing/door frames/window frames, sanitary wares/kitchen sinks/tap fittings/water tanks, timber doors/door frames, locksets accessories, and paints; and various pipes comprising V.C. pipes, GI pipes, M.S. cement pipes, and UPVC pipes and poly pipes, as well as processes and trades in ready-mixed concrete. In addition, the company operates golf, sports, and recreation clubs; bowling centre; and hotel, as well as operates as a general insurance agent. Daiman Development Berhad was incorporated in 1972 and is based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Daiman Development Bhd Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended March 31, 2014

Daiman Development Bhd reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended March 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of MYR 41,537,000 compared to MYR 52,253,000 a year ago. Profit from operations was MYR 10,650,000 compared to MYR 33,427,000 a year ago. Profit before tax from continuing operations was MYR 10,700,000 compared to MYR 35,147,000 a year ago. Net profit for the period from continuing operation was MYR 6,547,000 compared to MYR 31,229,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to the owners of the parent was MYR 6,547,000 or 3.11 sen per basic and diluted share compared to MYR 31,229,000 or 14.83 sen per basic and diluted share a year ago. The lower revenue in the current financial quarter under review was mainly due to lower property development revenue in Taman Daiman Jaya and Taman Gaya. The decrease in the Group's profit before tax was mainly due to lower profit from the property development business from lower sales and the gain on disposal of investment properties in the corresponding financial quarter of the preceding year. For the nine months, the company reported revenue of MYR 110,134,000 compared to MYR 143,496,000 a year ago. Profit from operations was MYR 63,421,000 compared to MYR 58,906,000 a year ago. Profit before tax from continuing operations was MYR 65,686,000 compared to MYR 64,587,000 a year ago. Net profit for the period from continuing operation was MYR 46,770,000 compared to MYR 52,992,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to the owners of the parent was MYR 46,770,000 or 22.21 sen per basic and diluted share compared to MYR 52,992,000 or 25.16 sen per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash flows used in operating activities were MYR 38,998,000 against MYR net cash flows from operating activities of 42,490,000 last year. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was MYR 89,957,000 against MYR 7,254,000 last year. Addition of investment properties was MYR 1,697,000 against MYR 10,329,000 last year. The decrease was mainly due to the lower property sales in Taman Gaya and also in Taman Perindustrian Murni Senai. The increase in the Group's profit before tax was mainly due to the gain arising from the accounting for the 12.3 acres land to be jointly developed pursuant to the joint venture agreement with Rainbow Crest Sdn Bhd, partially offset by lower profit from the property development business from lower sales. Additionally, there was a gain on disposal of investment properties in the preceding year.

For the quarter, the company reported profit from operations of MYR 11,284,000, profit before tax from continuing operations of MYR 11,292,000, net profit for the period from continuing operation of MYR 7,672,000, profit attributable to owners of the parent was MYR 7,672,000 or 3.64 sen diluted per share on revenue of MYR 40,576,000 against profit from operations of MYR 13,699,000, profit before tax from continuing operations of MYR 15,422,000, net profit for the period from continuing operation of MYR 11,574,000, profit attributable to owners of the parent was MYR 11,574,000 or 5.50 sen diluted per share on revenue of MYR 46,285,000 for the same period a year ago. The decrease in revenue was mainly due to the lower property sales in Taman Gaya and also in Taman Perindustrian Murni Senai.
