Bids For John Holland Due By July 24

The first round bids for John Holland Group Pty Ltd, according to sources, are due on July 24, 2014. Ferrovial, S.A. (CATS:FER), Bouygues SA (ENXTPA:EN) and VINCI S.A. (ENXTPA:DG) are already working with the investment banking advisers and preparing to deliver indicative offers. Leighton has reportedly told the potential bidders it wants to sell the units and have the proceeds in its bank account by December 31, 2104. Macquarie Capital has been hired to handle the sale.

Vinci and Alstom Win €2 Billion Qatar Transport Contract

Vinci and Alstom signed a €2 billion ($2.7 billion) contract with Qatar Railways to build a tram system for the city of Lusail. The contract won by Alstom and QDVC, which is 51% owned by Qatari Diar and 49% by Vinci's major projects unit. Vinci said the contract includes the construction of 25 stations and the electric infrastructure surrounding the four-line network, which is expected to stretch 33 kilometres (20 miles) when finished. For its €750 million slice of the pie, Alstom said it will deliver 35 trains along with power supply equipment, signaling and track works. The tramway in Qatar's newest planned city with a population of 200,000 is expected to open in 2018 with further lines added two years later.

VINCI Wins Contract to Build New Section of D3 Motorway in Slovakia

VINCI has announced that a consortium led by the company through its subsidiaries, Eurovia, SMP CZ, and Hochtief CZ, has won a E255 million contract to build a new section of the D3 motorway in Slovakia. This new 4.2 km section will link Strazov and Brodno on the outskirts of Zilina in the northern part of the country. The project includes the construction of four engineering structures: a 2.2 km tunnel and three bridges, one of which is a 1.4 km viaduct across the Hricovska dam. The contract also covers a large number of ancillary works, including restoration of secondary road networks, a variety of drainage works and the installation of all required motorway equipment such as emergency call boxes, met stations, variable message boards, ice warning and video surveillance systems. About 500 people will be working on the project for a period of three years. To protect the environment, the project provides for optimum blending into the landscapes through which it runs and re-planting of vegetation, including 60,000 bushes and 13,500 trees, along the edges of the infrastructure.
