Daihatsu Launches Redesigned Move Minivehicle in Japan

Daihatsu launched its redesigned Move range of minivehicles this December in Japan. The redesign incorporates a newly developed lightweight, high-rigidity body structure and upgraded suspension. The revamped Move also includes reverse control capabilities as part of the smart assist crash-avoidance system. The minivehicle is fitted with a colour TFT multi-information display for enhanced convenience and comfort. Daihatsu has introduced the Move custom ‘Hyper’ grade, featuring a dark-coated grill and LED lamps to improve visibility. The Move series comes in various grades, including L, X, Custom X, Custom RS and Custom RS ‘Hyper’ and other variants. The range has a continuous variable transmission (CVT) system and is available with 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD) options. The price range of the new model is between JPY 1.1 million (USD 9,485) and JPY 1.8 million.

Daihatsu Fully Remodels 'Move' Light Wagon

By making improvements to the platform of its predecessor, Daihatsu realized a basic performance (such as traveling performance and ride quality) equivalent to that of a light car, it said. The fuel efficiency of the vehicle is 31.0km/L (approx 72.9mpg, two-wheel-drive model with a naturally aspirated engine) under the JC08 test mode, an about 7% increase from the predecessor. The price (including consumption tax) of the new Move ranges from ¥1,134,000 to 1,792,800 (approx $9,556-15,107). For the improvement of the platform, Daihatsu fully used high-tensile steel plates for the 'side outer panels,' which cover the frames surrounding the front and rear doors. By casting 1.0mm-thick high-tensile steel, which was employed in place of 0.65mm-thick iron, into a panel, the company eliminated structural breaks so that a force is received by the entire frame. In addition, the lower part of the body was strengthened in the aim of improving maneuverability and enabling to feel the rear tires contacting the ground more.

Daihatsu Motor Co. Launches Fully Remodeled Move Minicar in Japan

Daihatsu Motor Co. released a fully remodeled version of its Move minicar in Japan. The new Move features a safety system that prevents sudden acceleration if an object is detected behind the vehicle while in reverse mode. This is the first such function to be used in a minivehicle, an automobile with an engine displacement of up to 660 c.c. The new Move sells for between JPY 1,134,000 and JPY 1,792,800. It has a fuel efficiency of 31.0 kilometers per liter of gasoline, up from the maximum of 29.0 kilometers in the previous model. The improvement reflected reduced air resistance.
