DNB ASA provides various financial products and services for retail and corporate customers. It operates through five segments: Personal customers, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Large Corporates and International Customers, Trading, and Traditional Pension Products. The company offers savings and investment products, including saving accounts, term accounts, asset management services, exchange traded products, fixed rate deposits, bonds and commercial papers, and equities; and loans comprising home mortgages, and car and consumer loans, as well as installment loans, bank guarantees, leasing, and overdraft facilities. It also provides investment banking advisory and financing services, such as mergers and acquisitions, strategic advice, and debt and equity markets capital for international corporations, as well as private equity firms. In addition, the company offers a range of insurance products comprising car, boat, motor vehicle, household contents, home, holiday home, travel, and life insurance products, as well as pet insurance for cats and dogs. Further, it provides pension, cash management, and trade finance products; Internet and mobile banking services; and credit and debit cards, as well as is involved in foreign exchange and treasury activities. Additionally, the company offers banking services to the energy, shipping, and seafood sectors. It operates in 20 countries worldwide and has 150 branch offices in Norway. DNB ASA distributes its products and services through its distribution network comprising branches, telephone banking, digital banking, real estate broking, and external channels comprising post offices and in-store postal, and banking outlets. The company was founded in 1882 and is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.

DNB ASA reported audited earnings results for the full year ended December 31, 2013. For the period, the company reported net cash flow used in operating activities of NOK 96,866 million against net cash flow from operating activities of NOK 25,097 million a year ago. Net interest income was NOK 30,192 million against NOK 27,216 million a year ago. Total income was NOK 46,619 million against NOK 41,717 million a year ago. Pre-tax operating profit was NOK 22,709 million against NOK 17,776 million a year ago. Profit attributable to shareholders was NOK 17,526 million against NOK 13,792 million a year ago. Earnings per diluted share were NOK 10.76 against NOK 8.48 a year ago. Net payments on the acquisition of fixed assets were NOK 3,881 million against NOK 6,984 million a year ago.

DNB ASA Reports Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year of 2013; Provides Impairment Guidance for the Year 2014

DNB ASA reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2013. For the quarter, the company reported profits of NOK 5,665 million, up NOK 1,822 million from the fourth quarter of 2012. The improved profit performance reflected an increase in net interest income and lower impairment losses on loans. Pre-tax operating profits before impairment were NOK 6.8 billion against NOK 5.7 billion a year ago. Profit for the period was NOK 5.7 billion against NOK 3.8 billion a year ago. Earnings per share were NOK 3.48 against NOK 2.36 a year ago. Return on equity was 16.2% against 12.3% a year ago. For the year, the company reported profits of NOK 17,526 million against NOK 3,734 million a year ago. A rise in net interest income, low impairment losses on loans and strict cost control were the main factors behind the positive profit trend. Operating income increased by NOK 1,926 million from 2012, mainly in consequence of the rise in value of its shareholding in Nets and healthy profits from insurance operations. Pre-tax operating profits before impairment were NOK 24.7 billion against NOK 21.0 billion a year ago. Profit for the year was NOK 17.5 billion against NOK 13.8 billion a year ago. Earnings per share were NOK 10.76 against NOK 8.48 a year ago. Return on equity was 13.2% against 11.7% a year ago. The company expects impairment losses on loans to remain low in 2014, with individual impairment in the range of NOK 2 billion to NOK 3 billion.
