It operates in three segments: Medical and Healthcare; International and Professional Educational; and Business, Technology and Management. The Medical and Healthcare segment operates American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, Chamberlain College of Nursing, and Carrington College. This segment provides various medical, nursing, and veterinary education programs; and prepares students for careers in healthcare through certificate and associate degree programs, as well as post-licensure bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degree programs in nursing online. The International and Professional Education segment operates various institutions comprising Fanor, Ruy Barbosa, ÁREA1, Faculdade Boa Viagem, Centro Universitário Vale do Ipojuca, Faculdade Diferencial Integral, Faculdade DeVry Sao Luis, and Faculdade DeVry Joao Pessoa, which primarily offers undergraduate and graduate programs in business, management, medical, healthcare, law, and engineering. This segment also operates Becker Professional Education that provides professional education serving the accounting, finance, project management, and healthcare professions. The Business, Technology and Management segment offers career-oriented master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degree programs in technology, science, business, and the arts. The company was formerly known as DeVry Inc. and changed its name to DeVry Education Group Inc. in November 2013. DeVry Education Group Inc. was founded in 1931 and is headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois.

DeVry Inc. reported earnings results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $462,044,000 against $450,913,000 a year ago. Operating income was $24,643,000 against $10,271,000 a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $24,647,000 against $9,854,000 a year ago. Income from continuing operations was $20,437,000 against $8,151,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to shareholders was $20,440,000 or $0.31 diluted earnings per share compared to net loss of $7,132,000 million or $0.11 loss per share last year. Net cash provided by operating activities was $141,063,000 against $141,220,000 a year ago. Capital expenditures was $21,152,000 against $22,180,000 a year ago. Expected effective income tax rate from operations for the 2014 will be in the 17% to 18% range. For the year, the company expects capital spending to be in the range of $100 million to $110 million, with approximately 80% being deployed to healthcare and international institutions as it invests in new programs, locations and infrastructure.
