DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of $134,648,000 compared to $136,084,000 a year ago. Operating income was $5,375,000 compared to $10,985,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $6,532,000 compared to $14,178,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $5,577,000 or $0.07 per basic and diluted common share compared to $9,074,000 or $0.11 per basic and diluted common share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $41,682,000 compared to net cash used in operating activities of $14,650,000 a year ago. Purchases of property, plant and equipment were $8,088,000 compared to $11,823,000 a year ago. The company currently expects that its full-year 2013 combined effective tax rate will be in the mid-to-high 20% range.

DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. announced that at its upcoming annual meeting of stockholders, scheduled to be held on May 29, 2013, current directors Nathan Myhrvold and Richard Sherman will retire from the company's Board of Directors and Lucian Grainge, chairman and chief executive officer of Universal Music Group, and Jason Kilar, founding chief executive officer of Hulu, will be nominated for election as new Directors. Myhrvold is the chief executive officer of Intellectual Ventures and has served on the DreamWorks Animation Board of Directors since the company went public in October of 2004. Sherman is the chief executive officer of The David Geffen Company and has served as a DreamWorks Animation Board member since November 2008. Kilar was the founding CEO of Hulu. Prior to building Hulu, Kilar served in key leadership positions with Amazon.com, including senior vice president of Worldwide Application Software and vice president and general manager of Amazon.com's domestic books, music and video businesses. Grainge joined Universal Music Group in 1986 and has spent his entire career in the music industry. Grainge is also a member of the Board of Directors of Activision Blizzard Inc.
