Dynegy Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the production and sale of electric energy, capacity, and ancillary services in the United States. It operates in two segments, Coal and Gas. The company sells electric energy, capacity, and ancillary services on a wholesale basis from its natural gas-fired, fuel-oil fired, coal-fired, and gas-fired power generation facilities. Its power generation portfolio consists of coal-fired power generation facilities with the capacity of 2,980 megawatts; and natural gas-fired and fuel-oil fired power generation facilities with the capacity of 6,771 megawatts. The company’s customers include regional transmission organizations, independent system operators, integrated utilities, municipalities, electric cooperatives, transmission and distribution utilities, industrial customers, power marketers, and other power generators, as well as financial participants, such as banks and hedge funds. Dynegy Inc. was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
