EnerCare Inc. reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of CAD 74,310 increased by CAD 6,443 or 9% compared to CAD 67,867 in the same period of 2012. Losses before income taxes were CAD 12,524, an increase of CAD 14,725, compared to income before income tax of CAD 2,201 in the same period in 2012. Net loss was impacted by increases in current taxes of CAD 2,277 and tax recoveries of CAD 6,783, resulting in a net loss of CAD 10,388, CAD 10,219 lower than CAD 169 in the same period in 2012. Adjusted EBITDA was CAD 41,429 compared to CAD 40,835 for the last year. Total revenues for the rental business grew by 0.5% point year-over-year to CAD 47.1 million. This was primarily due to a small rental rate increase effective in January. The increase was also attributable to the gradual improvement in asset mix, which it is seeing as a result of consumer trends moving towards more sophisticated, higher-end revenue rental products, such as power vent and tankless water units. Major driver of the company positive results was the improvement the company saw on attrition. The company generated cash flow from operations of CAD 9.1 million.
