Epic Data International Inc. develops and implements software and hardware solutions for data collection and operations management in discrete manufacturing and warehousing control areas. In addition, it offers Connectware, which streamlines enterprise processes; Enterpoint, an automated data collection solution; DataConnect, a suite of data connectivity solutions; SP3, an integrated warehouse and shop floor data collection system; and eXpresso to create real time data collection applications. Further, the company offers business requirements/analysis, business process re-engineering, operational improvements, project management, customer facility orientation and site survey, functional and detailed design, transaction and interface development, systems installation and integration, training, testing, and post acceptance support services. It serves aerospace and defense, automotive, construction, mining, agriculture, rail, shipbuilding, and medical equipment and device industries in North America, Western Europe, and China. Epic Data International Inc. reported earnings results for second quarter and six months ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company’s revenue was increased $556,519 or 47% to $1,749,865 compared with $1,193,346 in the same period last year. Net loss was decreased $324,836 or 35% to $600,958 compared with $925,794 in the same period last year. Basic and diluted loss per share was $0.02 against $0.03 a year ago. For the six months, the company’s revenue was increased $860,434 or 42% to $2,923,283 compared with $2,062,849 in the same period last year. The increase in revenue in both quarter and year to date were due to revenue from the Epic-HUST JV in China. Net loss was decreased $81,238 or 4% to $1,851,202 compared with $1,932,440 in the same period last year. The decrease in the net loss in both quarter and year to date were resulted from the improved operations in China as certain revenue recognition criteria have been met. Basic and diluted loss per share was $0.04 against $0.06 a year ago.

For the quarter, the company’s revenue was $1,173,418 compared to $869,503 for the same period in 2011. The increase in revenue was due to primarily to revenue from the Epic-HUST JV in China, which completed several small projects in the quarter accounting for $232,438 of the increase. In addition, the Epic-HUST JV is working on a number of other projects which involve the rendering of services, however certain elements required to allow revenue to be recognized have not yet been met so no revenue has been recorded for these projects. Net loss was $1,250,244 or $0.03 per basic and diluted share compared to $1,006,646 or $0.03 per basic and diluted share for the same period in 2011 as a result of the start-up operations in China, which had an increased loss of $526,223, offset by lower interest charges and slightly better results in the United States and the United Kingdom.
