Emera Incorporated, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity to various customers. The company is also involved in gas transmission and utility services businesses; and the provision of energy marketing, trading, and other energy-related management services. It serves residential customers comprising individual homes, apartments, and condominiums; and commercial customers, such as retail operations, offices, commercial complexes, universities, and hospitals, as well as industrial customers, which include manufacturing facilities and other large volume operations. The company serves approximately 501,000 customers in Nova Scotia; 119,000 customers in eastern Maine; 36,000 customers in northern Maine; and 125,000 customers in the island of Barbados. Emera Incorporated has approximately 5,000 kilometers of transmission facilities and 27,000 kilometers of distribution facilities in Nova Scotia; 1,000 kilometers of transmission facilities and 11,500 kilometers of distribution facilities in eastern Maine; and 600 kilometers of transmission facilities and 3,200 kilometers of distribution facilities in northern Maine. In addition, it transports re-gasified liquefied natural gas to consumers in the northeastern United States through its 145-kilometre pipeline in New Brunswick. Emera Incorporated was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Halifax, Canada.

Emera Incorporated Declares First Quarter Common share Dividend and Preference Dividends, Payable on and After November 17, 2014

Emera's Board of Directors approved an increase in the annual common share dividend to $1.55 from $1.45 per common share. The first quarterly declared dividend of $0.3875 per common share is payable on and after November 17, 2014 to common shareholders of record at the close of business on November 3, 2014. Emera Inc. Announces New Board Appointments

Emera Inc. announced the appointment of two new members to Emera's Board of Directors. Henry E. Demone, Chief Executive Officer of High Liner Foods, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and J. Wayne Leonard, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Entergy Corporation, New Orleans, Louisiana, will join the Emera Inc. Board of Directors effective September 25, 2014. Mr. Demone has been CEO of High Liner Foods since 1992. In 1998, after two decades in the US energy industry, Mr. Leonard joined Entergy Corporation. He became CEO of Entergy in 1999.

Emera Inc. Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2014

Emera Inc. reported consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported operating revenues of CAD 566.6 million compared to CAD 506.5 million a year ago. The increase was primarily due to the 2013 acquisition of the New England Gas Generating facilities and Brooklyn Energy, partially offset by mark-to-market losses in Emera Energy. Adjusted EBITDA was CAD 185.2 million compared to CAD 164.3 million a year ago, primarily due to increased contributions from Emera Energy’s Trading and Marketing and Bear Swamp. Net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 24.5 million compared to CAD 44.9 million a year ago. Adjusted net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 44.2 million compared to CAD 42.6 million a year ago. EPS per basic share were CAD 0.17 compared to CAD 0.34 a year ago. Adjusted EPS per basic share were CAD 0.31 compared to CAD 0.32 a year ago. For the six months, the company reported operating revenues of CAD 1,616.9 million compared to CAD 1,144.6 million a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was CAD 516.2 million compared to CAD 439.6 million a year ago. Net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 227.3 million compared to CAD 167.7 million a year ago. Adjusted net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 190.8 million compared to CAD 158 million a year ago. EPS per basic share were CAD 1.59 compared to CAD 1.27 a year ago. Adjusted EPS per basic share were CAD 1.34 compared to CAD 1.20 a year ago. Cash flow from operations increased 75.9% to CAD 410.2 million for the six months ending June 30th 2014 compared to CAD 233.2 million a year ago, primarily due to higher cash earnings from trading and marketing in Emera Energy.
