In addition, the company offers electric energy, telecommunication, and data transmission services; electricity bill collection services; and technical services related to the operation, maintenance, and planning of third-party electric installations. It primarily serves residential, industrial, commercial, rural, government authorities, street lighting, utility services, and other customers. The company was founded in 1958 and is headquartered in São Luís, Brazil.

Equatorial Energia S.A. Reports Earnings Results for the First Quarter of 2013

Equatorial Energia S.A. reported earnings results for the first quarter of 2013. Net operating revenues in the quarter reached BRL 1,065.9 million, almost twice the net operating revenues reported in the first quarter of 2012, which reflects the beginning of the consolidation of Celpa. EBITDA totaled BRL 59.8 million, a 52.2% decrease compared to the last year amount, due to the effect of the dispatch of thermal plants. Net result of the quarter was a loss of BRL 24.6 million, due to the effect of the dispatch of thermal plants. Consolidated investments totaled BRL 169.0 million, 38.2% lower than those made in the same period last year.
