Energy Resources of Australia Ltd. Reports Earnings Results for the Half Year Ended June 30, 2014; Provides Production Guidance for the Full Year of 2014

Energy Resources of Australia Ltd. reported earnings results for the half year ended June 30, 2014. For the period, the company reported net loss attributable to members was AUD 127,201,000 or 24.6 cents on revenue from ordinary activities was AUD 177,985,000 against net loss attributable to members was AUD 53,546,000 or 10.3 cents on revenue from ordinary activities was AUD 144,285,000 a year ago. Loss from ordinary activities after tax attributable to members was AUD 127,201,000 compared to AUD 53,546,000 a year ago. Loss before income tax was AUD 190,727,000 compared to AUD 72,011,000 a year ago. Cash flow from operating activities was AUD 30,221,000 compared to AUD 89,034,000 a year ago. Earnings were impacted by a draw down in inventory associated with the plant suspension, the purchase of uranium oxide and increased spend on exploration and evaluation of the Ranger 3 Deeps resource. This was partially offset by reduced non-cash costs and increased sales revenue. Revenue from sales of uranium oxide was AUD 171,629,000 compared to AUD 136,222,000 a year ago. Payments for property, plant and equipment was AUD 5,931,000 compared to AUD 63,962,000 a year ago. As previously communicated, production of uranium oxide for 2014 is expected to remain in the range of 1,100 tonnes to 1,500 tonnes. Sales volumes in the second half are expected to be broadly similar to the first half.

Evaluation expenditure for the June 2014 quarter was $12 million compared to $6 million for the previous quarter and $1 million for the corresponding quarter in 2013. Total exploration expenditure for the June 2014 quarter was $7 million, compared to $16 million in the previous quarter and $10 million in the corresponding quarter in 2013. For the six months, the company Ore milled of 46,000 tonnes, mill head grade of 0.08%, Mill recovery of 85.2%.
