Energy Recovery, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures, and sells energy recovery devices (ERDs) that harness the reusable energy from industrial fluid flows and pressure cycles in the United States and internationally. Its ERDs comprise energy recovery devices and turbochargers for water desalination; turbochargers designed for low-pressure brackish and high-pressure seawater reverse osmosis systems; and pumps ranging from high-pressure multi- and single-stage centrifugal pumps to circulation and high-speed pumps. The company also offers complete energy recovery systems comprising turbines and industrial pumps for oil and gas operators; and energy generating systems that enable oil and gas operators to capture hydraulic energy and generate electricity from high-pressure fluid flows. Energy Recovery, Inc. sells its products under the ERI, PX, Pressure Exchanger, PX Pressure Exchanger, AquaBold, AquaSpire, IsoBoost, and IsoGen trademarks. It serves engineering, procurement, and construction firms that design and build large desalination plants; and various original equipment manufacturers, which supply equipment and packaged solutions for small to medium-sized desalination plants, as well as oil and gas exploration and processing companies. The company markets and sells its products through its sales organization and through authorized, independent sales agents. Energy Recovery, Inc. was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in San Leandro, California.

Energy Recovery, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported loss from operations of $4.476 million, loss before income taxes of $4.449 million, net loss of $4.51 million or $0.09 loss per basic and diluted share on net revenue of $6.373 million compared to loss from operations of $4.685 million, loss before income taxes of $4.617 million, net loss of $4.683 million or $0.09 loss per basic and diluted share on net revenue of $4.756 million for the same period last year. Net cash used in operating activities was $3.854 million against $3.74 million for the same period last year. Capital expenditures were $0.384 million against $1.014 million for the same period last year. The revenue growth was entirely attributable to increased OEM and aftermarket sales. The company anticipates similar revenue levels in 2013 as compared to those achieved in 2012.
