In addition, the company manufactures cement; designs, constructs, finances, operates, and maintains motorway and railway concessions; and develops, operates, and manages office buildings, shopping centers, and leisure centers. Further, it engages in the energy business focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, co-generation, and the use of technologies to extract energy from waste, as well as operates wind energy, solar thermal energy, and photovoltaic energy plants. FCC Gets EUR 4.6 Million Contract to Redesign Coruna Port Area

FCC said it had won a EUR 4.6 million contract to rebuild and redesign the marina area of A Coruna port. The project foresees the remodeling of a plot of 30,000 sq m (322,000 sq ft) between the headquarters of A Crouna Port Authority and Puerta Real. FCC will build a walkway, a public square with trees, children's playground facilities, and will also install street furniture.

Stephan Riel Files Lawsuit Against Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas

The bankruptcy trustee of insolvent construction concern Alpine, Stephan Riel, has filed a EUR 75 million (USD 101 million) lawsuit against Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas at the commercial court in Vienna. The charges concern the sale of a profitable Alpine subsidiary (Alpine Energie) shortly before the billion-euro bankruptcy to a special purpose vehicle controlled by FCC. The action for rescission may substantially improve the outlook of creditors on payment. At the moment the bankruptcy assets are estimated at merely EUR 120 million, whereas claims amount to EUR 3.4 billion.

Odebrecht-Solví Eyes EGF

Odebrecht Ambiental S.A. and Solví Participações S.A. have advanced to the second phase of the bid process to acquire Empresa Geral do Fomento SA. Portugal's government approved the privatization of EGF, a subsidiary of AdP -Aguas de Portugal,SGPS, S.A. in January 2014. Seven bids are being considered by Portugal's environmental ministry. EGF is reportedly valued as high as €250 million, according to Brazilian newspaper Valor Econômico. Among the bidders, are Portuguese and Chinese groups, as well as Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, S.A. (CATS:FCC).
