Fabrinet provides optical packaging and precision optical, electro-mechanical, and electronic manufacturing services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of optical communication components, modules and sub-systems, and industrial lasers and sensors. It provides a range of optical and electro-mechanical capabilities across the manufacturing process, including process design and engineering, supply chain management, manufacturing, packaging, final assembly, and test. The company focuses primarily on low-volume production of various high complexity products, which it refers to as ‘low-volume, high-mix’. Its products comprise selective switching products, such as reconfigurable optical add-drop modules (ROADMs), optical amplifiers, modulators, and other optical components and modules; tunable transponders and transceivers; active optical cables; solid state, diode-pumped, gas, and fiber lasers; and sensors, including differential pressure, micro-gyro, fuel, and other sensors. The company also designs and fabricates application-specific crystals, prisms, mirrors, and laser components and substrates, as well as other custom and standard borosilicate, clear fused quartz, and synthetic fused silica glass products. Fabrinet incorporates its customized optics and glass into various products that it manufactures for its OEM customers, and also sells customized optics and glass in the merchant market. Its customer base includes companies in complex industries that require advanced precision manufacturing capabilities, such as optical communications, industrial lasers, and sensors. The company offers its services to the optical communications, industrial lasers, and sensors markets in North America, the Asia-Pacific, and Europe. Fabrinet was founded in 1999 and is based in George Town, the Cayman Islands.

Fabrinet reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended March 29, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of $155.6 million, an increase of 11.9% compared to total revenue of $139.0 million for the comparable period in fiscal 2012. GAAP net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 was $21.1 million, or $0.61 per diluted share, compared to a GAAP net loss of $46.3 million, or $1.35 per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2012. Non-GAAP net income was $11.5 million, or $0.33 per diluted share, an increase of 16.8% compared to non-GAAP net income of $9.9 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, in the same period a year ago. Operating income was $20.873 million compared to operating loss of $47.328 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $22.05 million compared to loss before income taxes of $46.41 million a year ago. For the nine months, the company reported revenue of $481.608 million compared to $421.975 million a year ago. Operating income was $54.964 million compared to operating loss of $67.737 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $56.5 million compared to loss before income taxes of $65.79 million a year ago. Net income was $53.83 million or $1.55 per basic and diluted share, compared to net loss of $63.92 million or $1.86 per basic and diluted share, a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $51.257 million compared to $138,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was $8,634,000 compared to $26,394,000 a year ago. Purchase of intangibles was $1,000 compared to $17,000 a year ago. The company provided earnings guidance for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013. The company expects fourth quarter revenue to be in the range of $148 million to $152 million. Non-GAAP net income per share is expected to be in the range of $0.26 to $0.28. Non-GAAP net income of $0.27 per share based on a fully diluted share of 35 million shares.
