Gas Natural SDG, S.A., together with its subsidiaries, is engaged in the exploration and development, liquefaction, re-gasification, transport, storage, distribution, and commercialization of natural gas; and generation, transport, distribution, and commercialization of electricity. The company’s Gas Distribution segment is involved in the regulated gas distribution; and provision of services for third-party access to the network, as well as in the activities related to distribution. Its Electricity Distribution segment provides regulated electricity distribution services; network services for customers; and metering and other services related to third party access to the distribution network. The company’s Electricity segment is engaged in the generation of electricity through combined cycle, thermal, nuclear, hydro, co-generation, and wind farm plants and other technologies; and supply of electricity to wholesale markets, as well as wholesale and retail commercialization of electricity. Its Gas segment is involved in the exploration and production of gas from extraction to the liquefaction process, as well as value chain activities of liquefied natural gas (LNG), including the sea transport of LNG and the re-gasification process; and operation of the Maghreb-Europe pipeline. This segment also supplies and retails natural gas to wholesale and retail customers; and supplies products and services related to retailing. The company is also engaged in the exploitation of the coal field in South Africa; and activities related to the optic fiber and other non-energy businesses. It operates in Spain and internationally. Gas Natural SDG, S.A. was founded in 1843 and is headquartered in Barcelona, Spain.

Gas Natural and Philips Collaborate to Develop Energy Service Projects

Gas Natural Fenosa and Philips Lighting have signed an agreement to develop energy service projects. The two-year agreement will be extended into the countries where the two multinational companies operate. The actions provided for in the agreement include a number of awareness and loyalty campaigns aimed at the customers of both companies, which they have already been developing for a number of years. Furthermore, Gas Natural Fenosa and Philips will work together on developing efficiency and energy saving projects within the framework of an energy service company (ESCO). ESCOs provide their customers with comprehensive energy services that improve the efficiency of installations and reduce energy consumption. Payment for the services provided by an ESCO is made, either partially or entirely, with the savings obtained by the customer on their energy bill. The agreement also provides for joint participation by Gas Natural Fenosa and Philips in projects and bids related to public street lighting and the lighting of buildings, offices and businesses. Finally, it is expected that the two companies will work on innovation projects related to efficient lighting and the development of training and technical consultancy programmes.

Gas Natural Fenosa Opens New CNG Service Station in Galicia

Gas Natural Fenosa announced that it has opened a new service station supplying compressed natural gas, or CNG, for vehicles on the industrial estate in San Cibrao das Vinas, Galicia. The new facility has two compressors with a capacity of up to 225 Nm3/h each and two double compressed natural gas pumps. The infrastructure is designed to supply the equivalent of 80 lightweight vehicles a day (18 GWh/year). This infrastructure joins the existing network of public stations that supply natural gas for vehicles in Spain. 38 public stations supplying natural gas for vehicles currently operate in Spain, 22 of which belong to Gas Natural Fenosa.

Gas Natural Fenosa to Expand Mexico City Distribution Network

Gas Natural Fenosa aims to increase investment in Mexico, which could total MXN 11 billion (USD 848 million) by 2018 to expand the capital's gas distribution network and double the number of customers. Fenosa will invest MXN 8 billion in the expansion of Mexico City's gas distribution infrastructure over the next four years. In total, the works comprise a 280 km extension of the city's gas infrastructure, including 5 km of pipeline, to attend to 30,000 new customers, and will create 150 jobs a year.
