GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited, an investment holding company, operates as a solar photovoltaic company in the Peoples Republic of China and internationally. The company operates in three segments: Solar Material Business, Power Business, and Overseas Solar Power Plant Business. The Solar Material Business primarily manufactures and sells polysilicon and wafer to companies operating in the solar industry; and is engaged in the system integration business. The Power Business segment is involved in the development, construction, management, and operation of power plants; and sale of coal. Its power plants include coal fuelled cogeneration, resources utilization cogeneration, gas fuelled cogeneration, biomass fuelled cogeneration, incineration, and solar plants, as well as a wind power plant. As of December 31, 2013, this segment operated 30 power plants. The Overseas Solar Power Plant Business segment is engaged in the development, construction, management, operation, and sale of overseas solar plants. The company is also involved in the manufacture and sale of ingots, crucibles, and metallurgical grade silicons; trading of wafers, solar cells, modules, and steam; operation of boilers; and provision of management services. GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited was incorporated in 2006 and is headquartered in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Evonik to Build Fumed Silica and Ultra-Pure Silicon Tetrachloride Plants with Jiangsu Zhongneng Polysilicon Technology Development Company in Xuzhou, China

Evonik announced that it has signed a letter of intent to build fumed silica and ultra-pure silicon tetrachloride plants in Xuzhou, China, as part of a joint venture with Jiangsu Zhongneng Polysilicon Technology Development Company. If approved by the executive bodies, the plants will start-up in 2016 with a capacity of over 20,000 tonnes/year, adding that Evonik will have a 60% stake in the venture.

Gcl-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd. Announces Operating Performance for the First Quarter of 2014; Provides Operating Performance Guidance for 2014

GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd. announced operating performance for the first quarter of 2014. The Group's polysilicon production volume for the first quarter of 2014 was approximately 16,022 MT, representing an increase of approximately 85.2% compared with 8,653 MT over the first quarter of 2013. The group's wafer production volume for the first quarter of 2014 was approximately 2,884 MW, representing an increase of approximately 134.3% compared with 1,231 MW over the first quarter of 2013. The group's total electricity sales volume in the PRC for the first quarter of 2014 was approximately 1,539,647 MWh against 1,210,782 MWh a year ago, representing an increase of approximately 27.2% compared with the same period of 2013. The total steam sales volume for the first three months of 2014 was approximately 2,266,463 tonnes against 2,277,778 tonnes a year ago, representing a decrease of approximately 0.5% compared with the same period of 2013. The company provided operating performance guidance for 2014. For the period, the groups additional 25,000 MT granular polysilicon production capacity is expected to achieve in 2014-2015. The group's annual wafer production capacity is expected to increase to 13 GW by the end of 2014.

GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd. has established a new subsidiary, GCL Photovoltaic Technology Co. Ltd., in Taiwan. The establishment of a Taiwan subsidiary will enable GCL-Poly to further strengthen its services and cooperation with Taiwan-based customers, and bring forth further business opportunities.
