CGI Group, Inc. announced it will implement California's new centralized statewide voter registration database system, VoteCal, providing a single official source of voter registration information. The contract is valued at $38.75 million over four years. VoteCal will connect to multiple state agencies and all 58 county election official offices to improve the efficiency of the voter registration process. Currently, information about new and existing registered voters is separately maintained in county election management systems with the current statewide voter registration database (CalVoter) storing a copy of each county's voter registration data and refreshing that data based on daily updates. VoteCal will include a new public website for people to register online, verify their registration, and look up provisional ballot and vote-by-mail ballot status-improving the public's ability to register to vote and making it easier for voters to access or update their voter registration information.

CGI Group Inc. has been chosen to manage Tele2's entire print and electronic invoice pre-processing operations. The five-year agreement will drive processing efficiencies for Tele2 in six countries across Europe, including Sweden. The deal, valued at approximately SEK 70 million (approximately $11 million), also involves the rebadging of Tele2 IT professionals to CGI. Tele2 and CGI have collaborated for many years in the area of billing. Under this new agreement, Tele2 will outsource its entire Billing Output Management department and then buy the function as a service from CGI.

CGI Group, Inc. reported earnings results for the second quarter ended March 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of CAD 2.53 billion, up 137% compared to CAD 1,065.8 million reported a year ago. Adjusted EBIT was CAD 261.6 million, representing a margin of 10.4%. This compared with CAD 156.4 million in the year ago period. Excluding integration costs, net earnings were CAD 175.9 million or 56 cents per diluted share compared with CAD 105.7 million or 40 cents per diluted share in the second quarter of fiscal 2012. Including the CAD 81.4 million integration costs, net earnings were CAD 114.2 million and diluted earnings per share were 36 cents. The company generated CAD 147.2 million or 47 cents per diluted share in cash from operating activities, representing an increase of CAD 43.0 million compared with CAD 104.2 million for second quarter of fiscal 2012. Net debt reduced by CAD 50.6 million to CAD 2,914.3 million from CAD 2,964.9 million at the end of first quarter of fiscal 2013. Return on invested capital was 11.1% compared to 12.5% reported a year ago.
