Ananda Rajagopal Joins Gigamon as VP of Product Management

Gigamon Inc. announced Ananda Rajagopal has joined the company as Vice President of Product Management, bringing more than 20 years of global software, hardware and engineering leadership. Ananda joins Gigamon from Brocade, where he was most recently VP Routing, Product Management & Strategy for their Data Center Switching and Routing business. Prior to Gigamon, Rajagopal joined Brocade through the Foundry Networks acquisition where he helped the company achieve significant penetration in the service provider and high-end enterprise markets. Gigamon Revised Preliminary Earnings Outlook for the First Quarter Ended March 29, 2014

Gigamon revised preliminary earnings outlook for the first quarter ended March 29, 2014. For the period, the company expects revenues are approximately $31.0 million to $31.5 million, below the company's previously stated guidance of $34.0 million to $35.0 million. The revenue shortfall was primarily attributable to one expected large transaction from an existing customer in EMEA that did not materialize. GAAP gross margins are expected to be in the range of 70% to 71%. Non-GAAP gross margins are expected to be approximately 71% to 72%, compared to guidance of 78% to 79%. The lower gross margins are due to an excess inventory charge of approximately $2.3 million in the quarter related to the transaction in EMEA that did not materialize and other changes in product mix. Without the charge, GAAP gross margins would have been approximately 77% to 78% and non-GAAP gross margins would have been approximately 78% to 79% as discount trends fell within historical norms.

Gigamon Inc. Announces Multi-Purpose Visibility Fabric Node for Big Data Traffic Intelligence

Gigamon Inc. announced the forthcoming release of the GigaVUE-HC2 fabric node for the Services Layer of the Visibility Fabric architecture.  The GigaVUE-HC2 combines the elasticity of compute with the speed and performance needed to address the ever-changing monitoring and security landscape. Security, performance and customer experience monitoring are rapidly transforming due to the increasing adoption of cloud, consumerization of IT, mobility and the evolution of the Internet of Things. These trends are creating the need for sophisticated, stateful and intelligent traffic correlation, as well as the need to accomplish everything at unprecedented speeds. The GigaVUE-HC2 is a modular platform that combines multiple external functions such as compute for stateful and intelligent traffic correlation, secure in-band TAPs to prevent unauthorized access to traffic data, and sophisticated filtering, replication and aggregation, all in a single, compact modular form factor thereby eliminating the need for service chaining multiple external nodes. The GigaVUE-HC2 will launch with seven optional modules including 10Gb and 40Gb modules, GigaSMART intelligence as well as copper and fiber TAPs. The optional GigaSMART capabilities include packet slicing, masking, source port labeling, tunneling, header stripping and Layer 7 load balancing. Visibility Fabric Applications provide stateful packet correlation capabilities that enable de-duplication, provide session awareness for enhanced visibility, insight and control over data traffic flows, as well as the ability to summarize and generate NetFlow statistics from incoming traffic streams. The GigaVUE-HC2 will be showcased at Interop Las Vegas at the Gigamon booth #738.
