General Motors has implemented the third unscheduled shutdown in 2014 at its plant in Russia. The company is also planning a fourth shutdown due to a car sales slump in the country that has been exacerbated by sanctions imposed on Russia by the international community due to its occupation of part of Ukraine. In the latest shutdown, production ceased on September 29, 2014 and is due to restart on October 3, 2014. The next shutdown is due to take place between October 10, 2014 and October 27, 2014.

General Motors Company Announces U.S. Sales Results for the Month of September 2014

General Motors announced U.S. sales results for the month of September 2014. For the month the company reported that it sales jumped 19% on big demand for its pickup trucks. GM's sales totaled 223,437 cars and trucks. Sales of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup rose 54% to 50,176, while the GMC Sierra pickup was up 25% to 16,763.
