Nareva Selects GE Turbines for 100MW Wind Farm in Morocco

GE announced that it will supply 56 1.7-100 wind turbines for its first wind farm in North Africa developed by Energie Eolienne du Maroc (EEM). The 100 MW wind farm will be located near Akhfennir in southern Morocco. GE's 1.7-100 wind turbines will produce wind power in Morocco to help meet the country's renewable energy goals, while offering EEM enhanced economic returns demonstrating wind's competitiveness with alternative forms of generation. The agreement by GE complements the government of Morocco's Integrated Wind Energy Project, which aims to generate 2,000 MW of wind power by 2020 through an investment of Moroccan Dirhams 31.5 billion. GE's 1.7-100 wind turbines are built on an evolution of high performance turbines in order to generate competitive economic returns and capacity factor. GE's global fleet of more than 23,000 wind turbines provides more than 37 gigawatts (GW) of installed wind energy capacity, and operates with over 98% availability.

GE's Critical Power Business Launches CCR0512FP Front End Rectifier

GE's Critical Power business introduced it’s CCR0512FP 12-volt, conduction-cooled, front-end rectifier, measuring half the height of traditional, industry-standard rectifiers. The new 'tablet-sized' rectifier delivers 19 watts (W) per cubic inch (W/in3) of high-efficiency power to low-end data and telecom applications including network routing, semiconductor test equipment, network design equipment and thin client workstations. The fan-less operation of GE's CCR0512FP eliminates audible noise typically produced by the power supply, providing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with a more reliable solution. In addition, the conduction-cooling feature enables system designers to consider alternative methods of cooling including air liquid and convection. Key Features and Benefits of the CCR0512FP Front-End Rectifier include Compact device (3.35 inches by 8.79 inches), which is half the height of a traditional rack unit. Fan-less, noise-less conductive cooling. 500-W output power with 19 W/in3 of power density. 91.8% efficiency (Vin = 230Vac, 50% load). Auxiliary support -- 3.3 volts or 5 volts standby power at 2A. Hot plug/hot swap enables ease of field upgrade or service. The CCCR0512FP front-end rectifier is now available volume quantities now. Pricing begins at $209 for 1,000 units.

GE Introduces CCR0512FP 12-Volt, Standard Rectifier

GE's Critical Power business introduced its CCR0512FP 12-volt, conduction-cooled, front-end rectifier, measuring half the height of traditional, industry-standard rectifiers. The new tablet-sized rectifier delivers 19 watts (W) per cubic inch (W/in(3)) of high-efficiency power to low-end data and telecom applications including network routing, semiconductor test equipment, network design equipment and thin client workstations. The fan-less operation of company's CCR0512FP eliminates audible noise typically produced by the power supply, providing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with a more reliable solution. In addition, the conduction-cooling feature enables system designers to consider alternative methods of cooling including air, liquid and convection. For more information on fan-less conduction cooling, GE has developed a white paper, which is now available for download.
