Granite Broadcasting Corporation announced the appointment of Kemp Nichol as President and General Manager of KOFY-TV, its independent station serving the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose television market. Mr. Nichol is a broadcasting veteran having begun his career in the broadcasting industry in 1984 at a sign-on independent station shortly after receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Prior to joining Granite he has held general management and sales management positions with Petracom Broadcasting, Quourm Broadcasting and Nexstar Broadcasting.

The Screen Actors Guild announced on August 23, 2012, members of the SAG-AFTRA Peoria Local ratified a new contract with Granite Broadcasting Corporation, operators WEEK TV and WHOI TV. The contract is the result of a difficult negotiation process that has lasted for almost two years.

Motive Television PLC announced that Granite Broadcasting Corporation and Motive Holdings Inc., a fully-owned subsidiary of the company, have completed and executed the agreement establishing Broadcast Cloud Joint Venture LLC.  BCJV is a 50/50 partnership of Granite and Motive Holdings Inc. created to develop and enable terrestrial broadcasting and Television Anytime Anywhere™ to iPads and other tablets. BCJV plans to have the system of antenna-tuners and apps ready for testing in Granite's television markets in early 2013, with commercial introduction thereafter. The Motive group will receive license fees based on the number of antenna-tuners distributed plus its share of joint venture profits.
