The company serves clients in various markets, including Binghamton, Buffalo, and Syracuse, New York; Detroit, Michigan; Duluth, Minnesota; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Peoria, Illinois; and San Francisco, California. It has a joint venture, Broadcast Cloud JV, with Motive Television plc to pursue the development, implementation, and use of existing broadcast spectrum to provide live television, customized linear TV channels, video-on-demand, and catch-up television directly to portable devices, such as iPads, Android tablets, and smartphones. The company was incorporated in 1988 and is based in New York, New York.

Granite Broadcasting Corporation announced the appointment of Kemp Nichol as President and General Manager of KOFY-TV, its independent station serving the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose television market. Mr. Nichol is a broadcasting veteran having begun his career in the broadcasting industry in 1984 at a sign-on independent station shortly after receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Prior to joining Granite he has held general management and sales management positions with Petracom Broadcasting, Quourm Broadcasting and Nexstar Broadcasting.
