Türkiye Halk Bankasi Anonim Sirketi, together with its subsidiaries, provides various financial products and services. The company offers consumer and retail banking services and solutions, including deposit and overdraft accounts; consumer loans, such as housing, automobile, and general purpose loans; credit and debit cards comprising KGS credit and prepaid cards for bridge and highway toll payments; payroll services; and added value services that include automated teller machine, call center, Internet banking, mobile banking, and television banking. It also provides tradesman and SME banking services to small to medium sized companies, which comprise intermediation to tradesmen and craftsmen cooperative loans; and other support services, such as short term working capital loans and long term financial assistance solutions to tradesmen, artisans, and various small businesses. The company’s corporate and commercial banking services comprise assistance loans for various sectors, such as technology, construction, freight, etc.; budget loans; financial assistance loans; working capital financing; foreign trade finance; project finance; and domestic and international non-cash credit line facilities consisting of letters of credit and guarantees, cash management, investment banking and brokerage, factoring, leasing, and insurance services. As of December 31, 2013, it operated 872 branches in Turkey, 5 overseas branches in Cyprus and Bahrain, and a representative office in Iran, as well as 2,961 automated teller machines. The company was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey.

Halkbank's Offer For Cacanska Failed

Turkiye Halk Bankasi A.S.'s (IBSE:HALKB) (Halkbank) offer to acquire 76.76% stake in CaCanska Banka a.d. Cacak (BELEX:CCNB) failed on December 2, 2014. Halkbank could not agree on the price with related authorities, without elaborating how much it had offered, Halkbank said in a statement to Istanbul stock exchange.

Insurers Reportedly Eyes HALKB

Ageas (UK) Limited, Aviva plc (LSE:AV.), Zurich Insurance Co. (UK ) Ltd., Nippon Life Insurance Company, Sompo Japan Insurance Inc, Khazanah Nasional Berhad and ACE Limited (NYSE:ACE) are interesting to acquire stake in Turkiye Halk Bankasi A.S. (IBSE:HALKB), three sources close to the process said. "Talks were carried out with around 20 interested buyers. They will decide whether to participate in the sale process once the privatization document is out," one of the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity as the matter is not public. "Five of them are in the process of hiring an adviser already," the source told Reuters. Citi is advising Halkbank on the sale. Ageas, Aviva, Meiji Yasuda, Nippon Life, Sompo Japan, Zurich and Turkey's privatization office all declined to comment. ACE and Khazanah were not immediately available to comment.

Insurers from Europe, Asia and the United States are among some 20 potential bidders in the sale by Turkiye Halk Bankasi A.S. (IBSE:HALKB) of its pension and insurance arms, three sources close to the process said. Halkbank said in July it planned to sell part or all of pension provider Halk Sigorta AS and Halk Hayat Ve Emeklilik A S. through Turkey's privatisation office, but has yet to give details. "Talks were carried out with around 20 interested buyers. Citi is advising Halkbank on the sale.
