HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated Introduces a New Generation of Infinity Reference Series Loudspeakers

HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated, ushers in a new generation of its groundbreaking Infinity loudspeakers. The new Infinity Reference Series, encompasses loudspeakers from bookshelves to subwoofers. From the compact bookshelf R152 speakers to the top-of-the-range floor-standing R263, the heart of the Infinity Reference family of loudspeakers is the CMMD (Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm) transducer technology. This proprietary process yields a durable ceramic surface to the aluminum cones and results in an ideal stiffness to weight ratio while helping to move resonances up in frequency and out of the pass-band of the drivers. The three-way models R263, R253 and RC263 utilize a unique flat-piston CMMD midrange driver that helps reduce diffraction in the critical high and mid-frequency bands. The 1-inch CMMD tweeter found in all full-range models is mated to an advanced waveguide. The combination provides seamless integration with the CMMD midranges and woofers to provide smooth coverage across a wide listening area. The tuned ports and internal cabinet bracing help the CMMD woofers deliver powerful and extended deep bass response. The RC263 center channel is unusual for its price range in that it is a three-way model. The flat-piston dedicated midrange driver renders dialogue and vocals with unmatched clarity and precision bringing movies and music to life. Both the RC263 and the smaller RC252 center channel loudspeakers are sonically matched to the companion floorstanding, bookshelf, and surround speakers, allowing to create the ideal system solution for user needs, with a slender profile that allows for flexible placement within any entertainment system. The RS152 Surround Channel loudspeaker is ideally suited for multi-channel music and home theater. Its sound is unlike any other surround channel loudspeaker because its design is like no other. The reason is the patented Hemispherical Soundfield Technology (HST), whose combination of driver positioning and waveguide pattern control provides remarkably balanced coverage across a 180-degree hemispherical listening area without the typical "hot and cold" frequency inefficiencies found when mounting traditional loudspeakers on the wall. The end result is a loudspeaker with extremely flexible on-wall placement capability that maintains consistent performance over a wide area even when listening from far off to one side. The RS152's integrated keyhole wall-mounting, slender design and elegant details provide a rich appearance that blends well with any decor. Holding up the low end, both SUB R10 and SUB R12 powered subwoofers in the Infinity Reference Series start with a fiber-composite driver mated to a high-power digital amplifier. The solid 0.75" (19 mm) construction of the tuned-port subwoofer cabinet with its internal edge-to-edge windowpane bracing provides a firm foundation to reinforce the tight, punchy bass required for high-resolution digital surround and modern popular music. The combination of unyielding structure, high-output digital power, and robust driver provides powerful, deep bass response that will make user music and movies come alive. A full complement of controls including variable crossover, level and selectable LF trim allows fine-tuning to suit any listening environment and personal taste. Throughout the Infinity Reference lineup, computer-optimized driver positioning and crossover network integration result in ideal performance and lifelike imaging and soundstage, making it seem as if the performers are right in the room with you. HARMAN Infinity Reference Series Loudspeakers: 9 new speaker models for flexible system configurations; Flat-piston midrange drivers in R263 and R253 floor-standing and RC263 center-channel speakers; CMMD tweeters with advanced waveguides; CMMD high-output woofers with tuned-port enclosures; Fiber-composite high-output subwoofers with tuned-port enclosures; Patented Hemispherical Soundfield Technology (HST) maintains consistent surround performance even when listening from far off to one side; Subwoofers feature level, crossover, phase, LF trim and auto power controls; Computer-optimized driver positioning and crossover network integration; Sleek, contemporary enclosure design; Waveguides and woofers feature black chrome trim rings; Rich black wood grain finish cabinetry with hidden fasteners; Proven acoustic superiority through rigorous testing and real-world evaluation; Designed and engineered in Northridge, California Models. Harman Announces JBL Audio System Delivers Ultimate Listening Experience to New Smart Vehicles

HARMAN announced the world premiere of JBL(R) sound in the new smart for two and smart for four cars. This is the first time HARMAN has provided in-vehicle audio for smart, a Daimler Group company, and extends the already strong partnership between HARMAN and Daimler in the field of in-car infotainment. The new smart cars featuring the customized JBL sound system will be making their world debut appearance on July 16 in Berlin, with the first JBL-equipped vehicles expected on the roads later this year. The sound performance is as distinct and as individual as the smart itself, the JBL sound system brings an ultimate listening experience to this urban lifestyle vehicle. Designers and engineers at JBL and smart collaborated closely to create a customized audio system that would ensure optimal sound in the compact interior of the smart vehicle. For example, aware that space is at a premium in the smart, JBL and smart made the subwoofer removable to extend the trunk volume when drivers need to load extra baggage: a clever solution that is a perfect fit with the smart driving experience. Besides, the rich premium JBL sound supports the illusion of driving in a spacious car which is most relevant to smart.
