On 24 May 2013 Peter Surgey has tendered his resignation as a non- executive director of EVRAZ highveld Steel and Vanadium Limited, part of the EVRAZ Group SA, with immediate effect. Peter joined the board on 1 March 2010. He also served on the Audit and Risk Committee and chaired the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.

Evraz Highveld Steel & Vanadium Ltd. reported group unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of ZAR 1,414 million, operating profit of ZAR 50 million, profit before tax of ZAR 32 million, profit of ZAR 30 million or 30.3 cents basic and diluted per share against revenue of ZAR 1,334 million, operating loss of ZAR 154 million, loss before tax of ZAR 162 million, loss of ZAR 94 million or 94.8 cents basic and diluted per share for the same period a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was ZAR 234 million and net additions to property, plant and equipment were ZAR 38 million against net cash used in operating activities of ZAR 286 million and net additions to property, plant and equipment of ZAR 61 million for the same period a year ago.

Evraz Highveld Steel & Vanadium Ltd. reported production result for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company produced Hot metal of 174,151 tons against 196,486 tons for the same period a year ago. Continuously cast blocks were 175,397 tons against 175,747 tons for the same period a year ago. Sections were 49,672 tons against 65,823 tons for the same period a year ago. Plates were 44,605 tons against 44,685 tons for the same period a year ago. Coil was 29,497 tons against 25,787 tons for the same period a year ago. Vanadium slag was 2,906,030 Kg V2O5 against 3,832,071 Kg V2O5 for the same period a year ago. Internal consumption was 2,720,086 Kg V2O5 against 3,832,071 Kg V2O5 for the same period a year ago. Fines ore were 164,220 tons against 156,931 tons for the same period a year ago.
