Its investment banking activities include arranging and managing debt and equity fund raising, private debt securities issuances, syndicated loans, initial public offerings, rights issues, restricted issues, special issues, and private placements; corporate related advisory, such as corporate restructuring, merger and acquisitions, asset and investment valuation, takeovers and privatizations, and capital market instruments; and independent advisory, debt and equity underwriting, deposit taking, treasury related solutions, and fixed income instruments trading and distribution services. The company also offers a range of broking services for clients ranging from institutional to high net worth and retail investors; margin financing; and managed investment solutions across segregated assets and unit trust funds for state governments, insurance companies, endowments, family offices, corporations, and high net worth individuals. In addition, it is involved in the provision of nominees and custodian services; unit trust management; and sale of unit trusts. The company was formerly known as HLG Capital Berhad and changed its name to Hong Leong Capital Berhad in November 2010. The company is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hong Leong Capital Berhad is a subsidiary of Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad.

Hong Leong Capital Berhad reported unaudited consolidated and parent earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended December 31, 2013. For the quarter on consolidated basis, the company reported net profit of MYR 22,714,000 or 9.58 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 67,146,000 compared to net profit of MYR 8,927,000 or 3.81 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 64,747,000 for the same period a year ago. Operating profit before allowances was MYR 16,924,000 and profit before tax was MYR 16,975,000 compared to operating profit before allowances of MYR 14,885,000 and profit before tax of MYR 14,813,000 for the same period a year ago. For the six months, on consolidated basis, the company reported net profit of MYR 47,016,000 or 19.83 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 123,332,000 compared to net profit of MYR 17,091,000 or 7.28 sen basic and diluted earnings per share on operating revenue of MYR 118,899,000 for the same period a year ago. Hong Leong Capital Berhad reported unaudited consolidated and standalone earnings results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2013. For the quarter on consolidated basis, operating revenue was MYR 56.186 million against MYR 54.152 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 18.459 million against MYR 11.669 million a year ago, an increase of MYR 6.8 million or 58.1%. This was mainly due to higher contributions from investment banking and stock broking division. Net profit for the period was MYR 24.302 million or 10.25 sen per diluted share against MYR 8.164 million or 3.48 sen per diluted share a year ago. For the quarter on standalone basis, negative operating revenue was MYR 1.027 million against operating revenue of MYR 0.003 million a year ago. Loss before taxation was MYR 1.235 million against MYR 2.061 million a year ago. Net loss for the period was MYR 1.235 million or 0.5 sen per diluted share against MYR 2.061 million or 0.9 sen per diluted share a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was MYR 372.753 million against MYR 209.350 million a year ago. Purchase of property and equipment was MYR 0.336 million against MYR 0.230 million a year ago. Purchase of intangible assets was MYR 0.037 million against MYR 0.164 million a year ago.
